Receipts on a network printer, and the cash drawer
The SmartMy POS app prints receipts on a network receipt printer, 58 or 80 mm, and opens the cash drawer plugged into it. On the web the receipt prints as a PDF through the browser.

The problem it solves
- Each till needs its own printer driver, and a new cashier cannot set it up.
- The drawer stays shut until someone finds the key.
- Small shops pay for a printer they rarely use, when a WhatsApp of the bill would do.
How it works
- In the app, Receipt printer asks for the printer's Address and Port (9100 for most receipt printers) and the Paper, 58 mm or 80 mm.
- Open the cash drawer is switched on when a drawer is plugged into the printer. Save and Print a test page.
- Or the POS Administrator adds the printer once on the register's Printers tab, for every till that has none of its own.
- After payment the receipt prints by itself. The drawer opens with each sale's receipt, not with refunds or copies.
- Without a printer, Print shares the receipt as text through the phone's share sheet.
- On the web counter the receipt prints through the browser's print box, as an 80 mm PDF, on any printer of the computer.

The cash drawer
- Plugged into the printer; opens with each sale's receipt
- Stays shut for refunds, copies and sales put on a booking
- Opens for a deposit taken or paid back in cash (Scale)
Other ways to give the receipt
- App: Share sends the receipt as text through any app on the phone, from the cashier's own number
- Web: the PDF receipt from the browser, and from the back office
- Web counter (Growth): WhatsApp and Email ticks on the payment screen send the PDF receipt to the chosen customer, through the notification hub

- Web counter: the Receipt options Print, WhatsApp and Email on the payment screen (Growth)
- Not built: Bluetooth and USB printers; the register form lists them, but the app prints only over the network
- Not tried on real hardware yet: the printing is built and checked by automated tests. Your printer model is tested with you before go-live.

Notifications
- Point of Sale Receipt: to the customer of a paid sale, by WhatsApp or email as the cashier ticks on the web counter. It is transactional, so it goes out at once; WhatsApp uses your message credits. Built, but not on our price list yet: ask us before you rely on it.

Which printers work?
Network receipt printers that take ESC/POS on a port, usually 9100. None has been tried yet, so your model is tested with you before go-live.Can we use a Bluetooth or USB printer?
Not yet. The app prints over the network only. On a computer, the web PDF prints on any printer the computer has.Does the drawer open for card payments?
