Bill numbers without gaps
Each register numbers its paid receipts one after the other with no gaps, starting with the register's code. Your header, footer and logo go on every receipt, and refunds and copies are marked as such.
PLANSEvery plan
The problem it solves
- Your accountant finds a missing bill number and cannot tell if a sale was deleted.
- Two counters print the same number, and a refund cannot be traced to its sale.
- A bill cancelled before payment still eats a number and leaves a hole in the series.
- Receipts carry no shop name, GSTIN or return policy.
How it works
- When a register is created, it gets its own series called Receipt Numbers. It is made of its Code, the year and a five-digit counter, for example CTR1/26/00001.
- An order has no number while it is open. The number is given at the moment the sale is paid, never before.
- An order cancelled before payment uses no number, so the series has no holes.
- A refund is paid like a sale, so it takes the next number of the register that refunds it, and it is marked REFUND.
- A sale made in the app without signal shows a temporary number and "NOT YET SENT". The real number is given when the sale reaches the server.
- The receipt carries the Entity's name, the Receipt Header, the lines, taxes, payments and the Receipt Footer. The logo shows when Logo on Receipts is ticked.
Everything it does
The numbering
- One series per register, with no gaps, made by itself; it cannot be changed by hand
- Prefix: the register's Code and the year, then 5 digits
- The number is given when the order is paid; open orders show "/"
- A paid order cannot be edited or deleted; it is refunded
- Session numbers come from a separate series
What a receipt shows
- Logo (when ticked), Entity name and Receipt Header (shop name, address, GSTIN)
- Receipt number, date and time, the customer when it is not the default customer, the cashier
- Each line with quantity, unit price, the list price and the discount with its reason
- Taxes, rounding, total, each payment with its reference, the change
- "You saved" when there was a discount; the invoice number from Growth when invoiced
- Receipt Footer (a thank-you line to start with); REFUND on a refund; DUPLICATE COPY and its number on a copy
Printing the receipt
- PDF receipt 80 mm wide from the web, through the browser's print box
- From the SmartMy POS app on a network receipt printer, 58 mm or 80 mm, or shared as text
- Logo on Receipts prints the register's logo, or the Entity's logo when the register has none
Who uses it
POS AdministratorSets the register code, the header, the footer and the logo.
CashierTakes the payment; the number is given at that moment.

Questions
Does the number restart each year?
The year is part of the prefix, so the next year's receipts read CTR1/27/... The counter itself continues from where it was. What happens to an order we cancel?
Only an unpaid order can be cancelled, and it has no number yet, so nothing is skipped. A paid order is refunded, and the refund takes its own number.Do offline sales break the series?
No. The app prints a temporary number marked "NOT YET SENT". The gapless number is given when the sale reaches the server, in the order the sales arrive. Can I put our GSTIN on the receipt?
Yes. Type it in the Receipt Header with the shop name and address. Is this in Starter?
Yes. Gapless numbers, header, footer and logo are in every plan.Related features
PAYINGReceipt copies marked duplicateEvery receipt printed again is a copy: counted, written on the sale with who printed it, and printed as DUPLICATE COPY with its number. A register can also ask for a reason and a supervisor.PAYINGReceipts on a network printer, and the cash drawerThe SmartMy POS app prints receipts on a network receipt printer, 58 or 80 mm, and opens the cash drawer plugged into it. On the web the receipt prints as a PDF through the browser.SET-UPRegisters, products and barcodesEach register is one till with its own payment methods, price list, cash rounding, walk-in customer and favourites. Products carry a POS category, a barcode, a picture and the rules for discounts and price changes.STOCK AND ACCOUNTINGTax invoice at the counter, credit note on refundWhen a customer asks for a tax invoice, the cashier ticks Invoice at payment. A posted customer invoice is made in the customer's name with the taxes of each line, and the counter payments are booked on it. A refund of that sale makes a credit note linked to the invoice.WEB COUNTER AND APPSelling when the network is downWhen the signal drops, the SmartMy POS app keeps selling from the copy of the catalogue on the device. Sessions, sales, refunds, cash moves, receipt copies and deposits wait in a queue on the device. They are recorded exactly once when the signal is back. Anything that breaks a rule when it arrives waits for a supervisor to record again or discard.
