Resident SOS to every guard and the office
A resident presses SOS on the portal or the Resident app, picks Medical, Fire, Intruder or Lift stuck, and confirms. Every guard and the society office are alerted at once with the flat, and the resident sees who is responding.
PLANSEvery plan
The problem it solves
- An elderly resident falls at night, and the family cannot get through to the gate because the intercom is engaged.
- Someone is stuck in the lift, and the guard on the other gate never hears about it.
- Nobody can say afterwards how long the society took to respond.
How it works
- The resident presses Emergency SOS in the portal menu, or the red SOS button on every screen of the Resident app.
- They pick the kind: Medical, Fire, Intruder or Lift stuck.
- They confirm. Nothing is sent by a single tap.
- Every guard of the society's gates and the office are alerted at once, for example Medical at A-1204, with the resident's name and mobile.
- A guard presses I am responding. The resident is told who is coming, and the alert shows it.
- When it is over, the guard or the office presses Resolved and writes what was done. If nobody responds within 2 minutes, the office is alerted again and gets a to-do.
Everything it does
Sending the SOS
- Kinds: Medical (ambulance and first aid), Fire (evacuate), Intruder (someone suspicious near the flat) and Lift stuck (someone trapped in a lift)
- On the portal: Emergency SOS in the menu opens Emergencies; each kind is a button with a confirm step
- In the Resident app: the SOS button on every screen opens the kinds, then Send a Medical SOS? with Cancel or Yes, send SOS
- The alert carries the flat, the kind and the resident who raised it
- Each alert gets a number from the society's sequence
Who is alerted
- Every guard in charge of the society's gates and every user with the office's manager access
- The guards see it on Alerts & panic, with Call to ring the resident
- The office sees it under Visitors > Gate > Safety > Alerts, with I Am Responding and Resolved
- One responder per alert; the others see who it is
After the SOS
- Statuses: Open, Responding and Resolved
- Past alerts from the flat: the last 10, with the time, who is responding, and Resolved in n min
- Nobody responding within 2 minutes: the office is alerted again, gets a to-do and the alert is marked escalated (checked every minute)
- Write Up Incident turns the alert into an incident report, where your plan has it
Emergency contacts on the same page
- Up to two guards on duty now, with their gates and mobile
- The society office: the Entity's phone, or an office user's mobile
- Ambulance 108, Fire brigade 101 and Police 112 to start with
- Each with Call, which opens the phone's dialler

Where you use it
- Resident portal: Emergencies, and Emergency SOS at the bottom of the menu
- The SmartMy Society Resident app: the SOS button on every screen and Emergencies in the Alerts menu. The app is built and in testing, not in the app stores yet
- Guard page and the SmartMy Society Guard app: Alerts & panic
- Web: Visitors > Gate > Safety > Alerts in the back office
- Not a hardware panic button in the flat, and not a call to the public emergency services: the SOS reaches your society's security
What you control
Settings
- Guards in Charge on each gate: the guards who receive SOS alerts
- The office's manager access: the office users who receive them
- Ambulance, Fire Brigade and Police numbers: 108, 101 and 112 to start with
- The 2-minute wait before the office is alerted again is fixed
Notifications
- Security Alert (Panic): to the guards and the office, sent at once by app push, SMS and in-app
- Security Alert Answered: to the resident who sent the SOS, when a guard presses I am responding, by app push, SMS and in-app
- Both are transactional: they go out at once and cannot be switched off; SMS uses paid message credits; in-app notices always arrive
Questions
Can a child send an SOS by mistake?
A single tap never sends it. The resident picks the kind and then confirms. A mistaken alert is closed with Resolved and a note.Do I need to hold the button down?
No. The resident's SOS is press, choose the kind, then confirm. Holding for 2 seconds is how a guard's panic button works.Who receives a resident's SOS?
Every guard in charge of the society's gates and every office user with manager access. If nobody responds within 2 minutes, the office is alerted again.Does it call the ambulance?
No. It alerts your society's security. The same page lists the ambulance, fire and police numbers with Call, so the resident can also ring them. Can we change the emergency numbers shown?
They start as 108, 101 and 112. There is no field for them on the back office form yet, so ask us to change them for you.Related features
