Resident app and resident web portal

Residents answer the gate, invite guests, follow daily help and parcels and read alerts in the SmartMy Society Resident app or in a browser. Both show the same flat and do the same things.
PLANSEvery plan
The Resident app is built and was tried on iPhone and iPad simulators; it is not in the app stores yet. The web portal works today.

The problem it solves

  • Some residents will not install another app, so the gate still calls them.
  • Elderly residents use a tablet at home, and phone-only apps look wrong on it.
  • A resident with two flats needs two apps or two logins.
  • The society pays for features nobody can find in a crowded app.

How it works

  1. The office invites a resident. They choose a password and sign in in the Resident app, or in a browser at your society's address ending in /my.
  2. My flat (Home in the app) is the first page. It shows whoever is at the gate with the answer buttons, a child asking to go out, counters and shortcuts to invite or pre-approve.
  3. The menu lists the flat's pages, from invite a guest and visitor history to daily help, family, parcels and alerts. Community, goods and work pages follow where your plan has them.
  4. A number beside a menu item shows what waits: a visitor at the gate, a parcel, an unread alert.
  5. The Emergency SOS button is always on screen. In the app a button is held for 2 seconds to send, so it is not sent by accident.

Everything it does

The Resident app on a phone

  • It opens on Home (the flat). Every other page is in the Menu. Visitors: Invite a guest, Pre-approvals, Visitor history, Frequent visitors. Household: Daily help, Family members, Vehicles, Parcels, Kids' exit pass, Work permits, Gate passes. Society: Maintenance, Notice board, Documents, Elections & polls, Homes for rent, Amenities. Community: Chat, Useful contacts, Report an incident, Lost and found. Alerts: Alerts, Emergencies
  • Forms open as a sheet from the bottom of the screen
  • Light or dark from the phone, and a colour of your choice
  • Photos and videos for incidents and chat from the camera or the gallery, made smaller before upload

On a tablet

  • From 840 pixels wide the screens that have two panes show them side by side
  • Lists and details sit side by side, and forms open as a panel on the right

The web portal

  • The same pages in a browser on a computer, tablet or phone
  • Society and flat switcher at the top for a person with more than one flat
  • The bell for alerts, a grid of other SmartMy products the society uses, light or dark theme
  • My profile (name, mobile, email), Password and security, and Turn on notifications for the browser
  • Passkeys can be added on Password and security
  • Only the pages of your society's plan are shown

Notifications

  • On the phone: app notifications once your society's app is set up with the notification service. Otherwise email, and SMS or WhatsApp where your society buys credits
  • In the browser: Turn on notifications under your name; on an iPhone the portal is added to the Home Screen first
  • Everything the flat is told is also kept on the Alerts page

Privacy

  • A resident sees their own flats only
  • Mobile numbers of other members are masked
  • The app needs a connection: it shows live information from the gate

Does the app work on a tablet?

Yes. Every page is in the Menu, and on a wide screen lists and forms sit side by side.

Will the app show adverts?

No. There are no adverts in the app or the portal.

Can we have the app under our own name?

An own-brand resident app is part of the Enterprise plan and is agreed with us.
