Homework, classwork and study material
Teachers give homework, classwork, projects and study material to their sections from the web or the Campus app. Students and parents hand the work in online, teachers mark it and return it, and late or missing work is flagged by itself.
PLANSEvery plan
The problem it solves
- Homework goes out on five class WhatsApp groups, and a parent who missed one message misses the work.
- Notebooks pile up on the teacher's desk, and nobody can tell which student never handed anything in.
- A worksheet goes to parents with a mistake in it because nobody looked at it first.
- The coordinator has no way to see how much work each class gets, or how much of it comes back.
How it works
- The teacher writes the work: title, type, class and sections, instructions, files, due date and time, and marks if it is graded. On the phone this takes one form in the Campus app.
- The teacher presses Publish (Give homework in the app). If your school wants a check first, the work waits for an Academic Coordinator, who approves it or returns it with a reason.
- Once published, every student of the chosen sections gets the work, and the family is told. A reminder goes out 24 hours before it is due.
- The student or parent hands the work in on the portal or in the app: an answer, photos of the notebook or files.
- The teacher opens Submissions to Evaluate, types the marks and feedback, returns work to redo or excuses a student. The family is told.
- The due time can pass with late work not accepted, or the teacher can close the work. Then anything not handed in is marked Not Submitted.
Everything it does
Giving the work
- Work types: Homework, Classwork, Assignment, Project and Study Material
- For: the chosen class sections; a teacher can give the same work to several sections at once
- Instructions with files attached; Assigned On and Due (date and time); the due date cannot be before the assigned date
- Submission Required: on to start with; off for study material and notes to read
- Submission: Online (upload or text) or Offline (notebook or in class)
- Accept Late Submissions: on to start with
- Max Marks: 0 means not graded, feedback only
- Statuses: Draft, Waiting for Approval, Published, Closed and Cancelled; the reference number is given by the system
Approval before it goes out
- Through the approval chain Homework: Approved at Once to start with, so work goes out when the teacher publishes
- Add levels and the teacher's work waits as Waiting for Approval; families see nothing yet
- Academic Coordinators get a to-do; they approve, or return the work with a reason the teacher sees at the top of the form
- A coordinator's own work goes out at once
- The teacher can take waiting work back to draft
Handing in
- On the portal and in the Campus app: an answer and files, each up to 20 MB. In the app also Take photo and Choose photos
- Late work is marked Late; the attempt number counts each hand-in
- Work returned to redo can be handed in again; new files replace the earlier ones
- Offline work is marked from the notebook on the homework's Submissions tab
Marking
- Submissions to Evaluate opens with My Classes and To Evaluate; marks and feedback are typed in the list
- Marks must be between 0 and Max Marks
- Mark Evaluated, Return for Resubmission (feedback needed) and Excuse
- Submission statuses: Pending, Submitted, Returned for Resubmission, Evaluated, Not Submitted and Excused
- Each homework shows Students, Submitted, Evaluated, Missing, Completion (%) and Average Score (%)
Late and missing
- Every hour, work past its due time that does not accept late hand-ins marks its pending students Not Submitted
- Closing a homework marks everyone who did not hand in as Not Submitted
- Cancel only while no student has handed in; close it instead after that
Reports
- Homework dashboard: published work, work to evaluate, missing and late hand-ins, homework by subject, hand-ins by status
- Homework Analysis (coordinators): published and closed work by institution, subject, teacher and type
- Graded assignments can count towards the internal mark of an exam

- Coordinators Give Homework to Whole Classes (in the app): off to start with; in the back office coordinators can always do it
- Per homework: Submission Required on, Online, Accept Late Submissions on, Max Marks 0
- Whether parents may hand in and act on the portal and app: view and act for schools to start with, or view only
Approvals
- Homework: one chain per school; Approved at Once to start with, with levels of Academic Coordinators when you add them
Notifications
- New Homework / Material: to the student, father, mother and guardian; informational, held for quiet hours
- Homework Due Soon: once, 24 hours before the due time, for online work not yet handed in or returned to redo; informational
- Homework Evaluated: to the student and parents; informational
- Homework Returned for Redo: to the student and parents; sent at once
- Each of these goes in the app inbox and on the first channel that reaches the person: phone notification, WhatsApp, SMS, then email
- Request to Approve (level): to the coordinators of the level, as a phone notification, by email and in the app, with a to-do
- A family can switch off the informational homework messages and any channel for itself; the in-app inbox always gets them
Questions
Can the coordinator check homework before parents see it?
Yes. Add a level to the Homework approval chain. A teacher's work then waits until an Academic Coordinator approves it, and a returned piece of work goes back to the teacher with the reason. Can parents hand in work for a young child?
Yes, where the school lets parents act. They type an answer or attach photos of the notebook on the portal or in the app. What about work done in the notebook?
Set the homework to Offline. Nothing is uploaded; the teacher types the marks or feedback on each student's line after checking the notebooks. When is work marked as not submitted?
When the due time has passed and late hand-ins are not accepted, checked every hour, or when the teacher closes the homework.Do parents get a message for every piece of homework?
They get New Homework / Material in the app inbox and on the first channel that reaches them. These are informational messages: a family can switch them off, and they wait for the quiet hours. Is there a file size limit?
Each file a student or parent hands in can be up to 20 MB, on the portal and in the app.Related features
