Teachers' app
The staff view of the Campus app puts a teacher's day on the phone. Today's periods and registers, homework, leave requests, parent meetings and chat with families are there, and each teacher sees only the pages their role allows.

The problem it solves
- Teachers carry paper registers to every class and the office types them in at the end of the day.
- A leave request from a parent waits until the class teacher gets to a computer in the staff room.
- Homework is set on the board, and students who were absent never hear about it.
- Teachers give parents their personal numbers because there is no other way to reach the family.
How it works
- The teacher installs the Campus app and signs in with the same login as the back office. The app opens the staff view.
- Today shows what waits for them, such as leave to answer or hand-ins to evaluate. Below is My periods today, each register marked Not taken, Open or Closed.
- In class the teacher taps the period, taps All present, marks who is Absent or Late, and saves, or saves and closes the register. A student on approved leave already shows On leave.
- Under Homework in the Menu the teacher gives work to one or more sections, with photos and files. Later they mark hand-ins, return work to redo or excuse a student.
- Under Requests the teacher approves or rejects student leave, with a reason. Parent-teacher meetings are kept here too: who came, what goes well, what to work on.
- Under Messages the teacher chats with a family or messages a whole class; each family gets it in its own chat.

Today and the Menu
- Today: your day and what waits for you
- The Menu uses the headings of the web's Campus menus: Timetable (with My timetable), Attendances, Homework, Examination (marks and exam duties). Then Student Leaves, Parent Meetings, Discipline (conduct), Student Exit, Library, Admission and Activities
- Chat and Placements have entries of their own
- A page shows only when the login has that right in the back office; a heading with no pages is hidden
Attendance
- Periods of the day, with arrows for the previous and next day
- All present, then Absent or Late per student, and a remark
- Save keeps the register open; Save and close makes it final and asks first
- Periods taken by an exam show Exam and have no register
- Periods given to you by a substitution show in your day
- Attendance by face (By face, Class photo) where your school uses it
Homework
- New homework: class and subject, Also give to other sections, kind, title, instructions, due time and maximum marks. Also Handed in on paper, and files up to 20 MB from the camera, photos or files
- Give it now, or Save draft; Send for approval where your school's chain asks for it
- Statuses: Draft, Waiting for approval, Open and Closed; Show closed homework
- Per student: Evaluate (marks and feedback), Return to redo or Excuse
- Coordinators approve or return homework here, and may give work to a whole class where your school allows it
Requests and meetings
- Student leave: approve, or reject with a reason the family reads
- Parent meetings: Came or Did not come, Going well, To work on, the parent's views and a private note. Share with the family, and follow-ups for the teacher, parent or student
- Meeting requests: answer families or visitors who asked to meet you
- Conduct: report an incident; the discipline office works the cases
- Exam duties: your invigilation duties and the attendance of your hall
Messages
- Chat with one family: search your students by name or number
- Message a class: whole classes or chosen students; the app shows how many families use the app and asks before sending
- Replies come back as private chats; a sent message cannot be taken back
- Alerts: leave requests, homework handed in, meeting requests and other notices to you
Sign-in and views
- The same login as the back office; the app follows the back office rights
- A teacher who is also a parent switches between Switch to my children and Switch to staff view
- Theme: like the phone, light or dark, and a colour
- Teachers and class teachers are not counted as logins
Who uses it

Where you use it
- Android and iPhone: the Campus app, staff view (built and in testing, not in the app stores yet)
- Web: the back office, with the same rights
- Not in this app: a teacher's own leave, payslips and attendance as an employee, which are in the SmartMy HRMS app
- Not built: a web portal for teachers; asking for a substitution, writing circulars and lesson plans are on the web

Approvals
- Teachers decide student leave, homework (coordinators) and activity requests from the app, as steps of the approval chains your school set
Notifications
- Staff alerts arrive in Messages > Alerts and, where push is set up, as phone notifications while the app is closed
- Request to Approve (level): to approvers of homework and other requests; phone notification, by email and in the app
Works with
SmartMy HRMSTeachers keep their own leave, payslips and attendance in the HRMS app; their approved leave shows on the Substitutions screen.
Questions
Is the teachers' app a separate download?
No. It is the staff view of the same Campus app. The app opens it when the login belongs to a teacher or staff member with work there.Does every teacher see the same pages?
No. Each page follows the teacher's rights in the back office. A teacher without the exam Evaluator right does not get Marks, for example.Can a teacher message all parents of a class at once?
Yes. Message a class sends the message to each family in its own chat, after the teacher checks how many families will get it.Can a teacher change a register after closing it?
No. A closed register cannot be changed in the app. Save keeps it open until the teacher is sure.Do teachers count against our logins?
No. Teachers and class teachers are not counted. Only office and administrator logins are.Related features
