Pay later within a credit limit
Customers you allow can buy on their account at the counter. The sale becomes an invoice at once, part can be paid now, and a sale that would take them over their credit limit is refused.
PLANSFrom Growth
The problem it solves
- Regular customers buy "on khata", and the counter keeps a notebook that never matches the books.
- A cashier gives credit to anyone who asks.
- A customer far over their limit keeps buying because the counter cannot see what they owe.
How it works
- The POS Administrator adds a payment method of the kind Customer Account (pay later) to the register. It needs no journal.
- A supervisor opens the customer and ticks May Pay Later at the Counter. Accounts set a credit limit on the customer if there is one.
- At the counter the cashier chooses the customer. The list shows Pay later for those who may.
- On the payment screen they tap the pay-later method. Part can be paid now by cash, card or UPI, and the rest later.
- The sale becomes a confirmed invoice with the part paid now booked on it. The rest stays open on the customer's account.
- Accounts collect it like any other invoice. The receipt shows the invoice number.
Everything it does
Who may pay later
- Only customers ticked May Pay Later at the Counter; never the register's default customer
- With SmartMy Facility: members with an active membership may pay later without the tick, on a register that charges members
- With SmartMy Trade: a party with credit days may pay later, and Trade's credit checks (cash only, over the limit, bills overdue) refuse the sale
- The tick is shown to supervisors and above on the customer form
The credit limit
- Checked at payment: what the customer already owes plus this sale may not pass their credit limit
- The message shows the limit ("would be over their credit limit")
- No limit set: no amount check, the tick alone decides
What it makes
- An invoice for the sale, confirmed at once, with the payments made now booked on it
- The order becomes Invoiced; the X and Z reports count the invoiced orders
- A refund of the sale makes a credit note linked to the invoice

Questions
Can a cashier allow pay later for a new customer?
No. The tick is set by a supervisor or above. A customer without it is refused at the counter. What if the app is offline?
The sale is kept on the device and checked when it is sent. If the customer is then over their limit, the sale waits under App Conflicts for a supervisor. Can part of the bill be paid now?
Yes. Split the payment: the part paid now is booked on the invoice and the rest stays open.Which plan has it?
Growth and above, together with invoices at the counter.Related features
STOCK AND ACCOUNTINGTax invoice at the counter, credit note on refundWhen a customer asks for a tax invoice, the cashier ticks Invoice at payment.
