Wall finishes and floors in the designer
Paint, wallpaper, panels, cladding, mouldings and tiles go on the walls of the 3D design. Tiles, stone, planks or carpet go on the floors in their laying pattern. The litres, rolls, boxes and square metres are worked out with wastage and priced into the estimate.
PLANSScale only
The problem it solves
- The client approves a feature wall in a render, and the quote still carries a lump sum for painting that nobody can explain.
- Tile boxes are counted by hand from the plan, and the site runs short of the herringbone floor halfway through.
- Wallpaper rolls are ordered without the print's repeat, so one roll too few arrives.
- The client cannot picture the chequered bathroom floor until it is laid.
How it works
- Open the design in the 3D designer and pick Build > Walls. Tap a wall, the ceiling or Every wall, then lay Paint, Wallpaper, Panels, Cladding, Tiles or Moulding from the picture picker.
- Choose the whole wall or a rectangle. Use the ready sizes Dado to 900, Feature, middle 2400 and Backsplash 600 at 900. Or type From left, From floor, Width and Height in mm.
- Pick Build > Floors, tap the floor and lay Tiles, Wood or Carpet, vinyl. Set how it is laid, the grout, the turn, a second tile for a chequer, a border and the skirting.
- The panel shows the area less doors, windows and rectangles laid over it. It also shows the quantity in the unit it is bought by, how it was counted, and the price.
- Make Estimate adds a line for each finish room by room. A chequer's second tile, a border and the skirting are lines of their own.
Everything it does
On the walls
- Paint from named shades with codes, with Coats (2 to start with) and the paint's coverage in m² a litre a coat
- Wallpaper prints with a print colour; rolls counted from strips of the wall's height plus the pattern repeat
- Wall panels and cladding that stand out by their thickness
- Mouldings and wainscot drawn as frames and a rail: Frames across, Gap, A rail along the top; priced by the running metre, doors left out
- Wall tiles in a laying pattern with grout
- On one wall, every wall, the ceiling or a lower ceiling. A rectangle lies over what is under it and is cut round doors and windows
- Tint, a Name (for example TV wall) and Take it off
On the floors
- Tiles, stone, planks, carpet and vinyl, on the room's floor, a raised floor or a rectangle (Whole floor, Inlay 2000 x 1400, or typed)
- Laid: Straight, Brick (Offset), Chequer of Two, Diagonal, Herringbone, Chevron; Grout (mm) and its colour; Turned (°)
- A border of another tile or plank and its width
- Skirting round the walls at a height you set, broken at the doors
- Carpet rolls laid wall to wall and carpet tiles; their m² price includes underlay and fitting
- Tiles and planks drawn piece by piece at their real size, each from another part of the material's picture
Quantities and price
- Litres, rolls, running metres, m², pieces or boxes, in the unit the material is bought by
- Wastage %: the finish's own, else the material's, else the setting for its kind
- Starting wastage by kind: paint 5 %, wallpaper 15 %, panels 8 %, cladding 10 %. Then mouldings 10 %, tiles 10 %, planks 8 %, skirting 10 %
- Each room's total and the design's price include the finishes
- New Version copies the finishes with the rest of the design

Questions
Can I use my own paint brand's shades?
Yes. Add the shades with their names and codes under Paint Shades, and set the paint's coverage and rate. The 24 starter shades are our own names, not a brand's.How does it count tiles in a herringbone floor?
It takes the floor's area less what is laid over it and adds the wastage (10 % to start with for tiles). Then it turns it into pieces or boxes from the tile's size. Can the client choose between two floors?
Make an Option of the design with the other floor and send both. The client compares them side by side in 3D with each room's price, on the client's choice page.Does it print a tile layout for the site?
Yes. Print > Tile Layout draws each tiled floor and wall piece by piece, marks the cut pieces and counts them against what is bought.Has it been tried on a tablet?
It has been checked in a desktop browser with touch emulated on our demo data. It has not been tried on a real tablet yet; we try it with you before go-live.Related features
