Loyalty points for paying customers
Customers who pay per item, such as the public at a campus café or visitors at a canteen, earn points on what they pay. They spend the points on part of a bill at the counter, on a booking in the portal or app, or on a reward.
PLANSFrom Growth
The problem it solves
- Your campus café sells to walk-in customers who have no reason to come back to you rather than the stall outside.
- A paper stamp card gets lost, and anyone can stamp it.
- Points given at the counter are never taken back when a bill is cancelled.
- You cannot tell how much of your sales are paid with points.
How it works
- Open the outlet, tab Selling. Fill in Loyalty Points per 100 Paid, for example 5.
- In Earned by, choose the customer types that earn, such as Public and Visitor. Leave it empty for every type.
- To let points pay bills, add the Reward Points payment mode to the outlet, and set Most of a Bill Paid with Points (%). It is 100 to start with.
- At the counter, the cashier finds the customer by card or app QR code. Each paid sale to a known customer gives points on what they paid.
- Next time, the counter shows the points the customer may use, with what they are worth. The customer pays part or all of the bill with them.
- Customers also see their points on the portal and in the app, use them on a booking, or spend them on a reward.
Everything it does
Earning
- Loyalty Points per 100 Paid per outlet; 0 means no loyalty points there
- Earned by: the customer types that earn; empty means every type
- Points are counted on what the customer paid, rounded down: 5 per 100 on a bill of 180 gives 9
- Cash, card, UPI, online and wallet payments earn
- Complimentary, value coupons, tokens and points do not earn
- A sale with no customer chosen gives no points
- Charges the system makes, such as a no-show charge, give no points
- A reversed sale takes its points back
Paying with points
- The Reward Points payment mode comes with the product; add it to an outlet (or a customer type) to take points
- A point is worth 1 divided by the Entity's Points per 1 of Currency: with 10, ten points pay 1
- Most of a Bill Paid with Points (%): 100 to start with
- The counter fills in the most the customer may use: the outlet's share of the bill, or their balance if lower
- A table bill paid in parts counts the points of earlier parts toward the limit
- A reversed bill gives the points used back to the customer
- On a booking in the portal or app, points are offered first and the rest is paid another way. Points are held while an online payment waits
Rewards and balance
- The same points as for members: the customer can also spend them on the rewards under Food Service > Engagement > Rewards
- A point balance is kept per Entity
- Every point earned or used is a line in Points and Leaderboard, with the bill it came from
- Points earned on purchases count toward Points earned badges

Questions
Does a customer need an account to earn points?
They need to be known at the counter, by card or app QR code. To see and spend points on the portal or app, they need a login. Can students on meal plans earn loyalty points too?
Yes, if their customer type is in Earned by, or Earned by is empty. Points come from paid bills, and a plan bought and paid at the outlet is one. Serving a plan meal gives none. To keep points for the public only, choose Public in Earned by.Can a customer pay a whole bill with points?
Yes, unless you lower Most of a Bill Paid with Points (%). At 50, points pay at most half of each bill. What happens to points when a bill is cancelled?
The points earned on it are taken back, and any points used to pay it are given back.Is loyalty in the Starter plan?
