Promotions, happy hours and coupon codes

Run percent or amount off, buy X get Y free, mix and match, bundle prices and rewards for spending more. Choose the items, outlets, customer types, dates, weekdays and hours. A promotion changes prices only once it is approved.
PLANSFrom Growth

The problem it solves

  • A cashier gives the happy-hour price at 8 pm because nobody switched it off.
  • Discounts are typed by hand at the counter and the owner finds out at month end.
  • A combo offer is announced but each cashier prices it differently.

How it works

  1. Create the promotion under Food Service > Configuration > Billing > Promotions: its kind, value, items or categories, outlets and customer types.
  2. Set when it runs: dates, weekdays and hours (local time at the outlet).
  3. Save. It waits as a draft and the approvers are told.
  4. An approver presses Approve, on the web or in the SmartMy Feast Manager app (Scale).
  5. From then on the counter, the kiosk and bookings price each item with the best promotion for the customer. The receipt names the promotion.
  6. Close ends it; Back to Draft lets you change it, and it must be approved again.

Everything it does

Kinds

  • Percent off, or Amount off per item
  • Buy X Get Y Free, of the same item (Buy 2, Get Free 1 to start with)
  • Buy X, Get Another Item, at a lower price or free (100 % off to start with)
  • Mix and Match: the cheapest of the items bought together is free
  • Bundle Price: a set number of units for one price, taxes included
  • Spend Over an Amount: percent or amount off the bill, or an item free; the counter suggests spending more within 30 % of the amount

When and for whom

  • Items and categories; empty means every item
  • Outlets (empty: every outlet of the Entity) and customer types (empty: everyone)
  • Date from and to, weekdays, and hours from and to for happy hours
  • Coupon Code: the promotion applies only to a bill that carries the code

Pricing

  • Line promotions first, the best one per line; then order promotions; then any bill discount
  • The price before the discount is kept on each line, and the bill shows You save
  • A free reward item is added by itself and taken off when no longer earned
  • The counter tablet prices promotions offline as the server does
  • The menu board shows the offers running now (Growth)

Questions

Can we run a happy hour from 4 to 6 pm on weekdays?

Yes. Choose Percent off or Amount off per item, set the hours from 16:00 to 18:00 and tick Monday to Friday.

Can a cashier start a discount without approval?

Not a promotion: it applies only after approval. A cashier's own line or bill discount has its own limits and needs a supervisor above them.

What if two promotions fit the same item?

Each line takes the one best for the customer.

Can customers use a coupon code at the counter?

Not yet. Codes are stored and checked on the server, but no screen lets anyone type one. Keep the code empty for offers the counter should give.

Is it in Starter?

No. Promotions are in Growth and Scale. Starter has cashier and supervisor discounts with limits.
