Lesson plans tied to the timetable

A faculty member writes what a lecture will cover and ties it to that lecture on the timetable. The lecture then shows its plan. The head of department and the principal read the plans of their programmes without asking for the notebook.
PLANSFrom Growth

The problem it solves

  • Lesson plans are kept in a register that the head of department sees once a semester, when it is too late to change anything.
  • An inspection or accreditation visit asks what was planned for a subject, and the faculty member who planned it has left.
  • A substitute walks into a lecture without knowing what the regular faculty member meant to teach that day.

How it works

  1. The faculty member opens Timetable > Lesson Planning and clicks New.
  2. They type the Lecture Name and choose the Faculty line: one of their own subject groups. The course, batch, staff member and subject are filled in.
  3. They choose the Session: the dated lecture of that subject group the plan is for.
  4. Under Lesson Topic they write what the lecture covers, and save. The lecture now shows the plan in its Lesson field.
  5. The head of department opens Lesson Planning and sees the plans of the department's programmes, grouped by lecture name, faculty member or subject.

Everything it does

A lesson plan

  • Lecture Name, Faculty (the subject group), Session and the Lesson text are required
  • Course, Batch, Staff and Subject are filled in from the subject group and cannot be typed
  • Only the faculty member's own confirmed subject groups are offered
  • A plan is tied to one lecture, and that lecture's Lesson field shows it. On a lecture, the faculty member can also choose the plan in the Lesson field
  • Every change is kept in the plan's history

Who sees which plans

  • The principal and the Administrator: every plan
  • A head of department: the plans of the programmes of the department they head
  • A faculty member: the plans of the lectures they take
  • Plans can be added and changed, but not deleted

Finding plans

  • Search by lecture name, faculty, staff member, subject, session, course or batch
  • Group by lecture name, faculty member or subject
  • The timetable dashboard counts lesson plans with the weekly periods and registers

Who uses it

FacultyWrite a plan for each lecture of their own subject groups and keep it up to date.

PrincipalReads every plan, for example before an inspection.
AdministratorSees all plans and keeps the timetable they hang on.

Where you use it

  • Web: Timetable > Lesson Planning, and the Lesson field on each lecture
  • Not in the app: lesson plans are written and read on the web only
  • Not shown to students or parents

What you control

Settings

  • Who sees which plans follows the user's role: Administrator, principal, head of department or faculty

Approvals

  • No approval: a plan is saved by the faculty member who writes it

Notifications

  • No message is sent for lesson plans

Questions

Can a head of department approve lesson plans?

No. There is no approval step. The head of department reads the plans of the department's programmes on the web.

Can we track how much of the syllabus is covered?

Not yet. A plan describes one lecture. There is no syllabus or unit list to tick off.

Can a faculty member plan ahead for the whole week?

Yes, for lectures that already exist. The system makes the lectures of today and tomorrow each day, so plans can be tied to those.

Do students see the lesson plans?

No. Plans are for faculty, heads of department, the principal and the office. Students see the timetable, assignments and study material.

TIMETABLE, ASSIGNMENTS, NOTICESWeekly timetable and holidaysSet the periods of the day, the holidays and each programme's weekly timetable once. Faculty, students and parents see the same week, with each student's elective periods added. Every day's lectures and attendance registers are made from it.TIMETABLE, ASSIGNMENTS, NOTICESClass substitution: cover or swap a periodWhen a faculty member is away, the Substitutions screen lists each lecture that needs cover and the faculty free to take it, best first. Faculty can also ask a colleague to cover or swap a period. The substitute takes that day's lecture and its register, and the weekly timetable stays as it is.ATTENDANCE AND LEAVESubject-wise attendance registersFaculty mark each period's register on the web or on their phone, starting from all present. Students and parents see the overall percentage, each subject's figure and every absence. Exams can hold back students short of attendance, per subject or overall.TIMETABLE, ASSIGNMENTS, NOTICESAssignments, projects and study materialFaculty give assignments, projects and study material to a section or an elective group from the web or the Campus app. Students hand the work in online, faculty mark it and return it, and late or missing work is flagged by itself.APPS AND PORTALFaculty view in the appThe faculty view of the Campus app puts the day on the phone: today's lectures and registers, assignments, marks, student leave and exam duties. The same app runs the library counter and the activity instructor's sessions, and each person sees only the pages their role allows.
