Site measurement by room, wall and opening
Your measurement team records every room in mm: walls, ceiling height, doors, windows, beams and service points, with photos. They work on the web or in the Site app, also without signal. A manager approves the sheet, and its rooms go straight into the 3D design.
PLANSFrom Growth
The problem it solves
- Sizes are written on paper at site and typed again in the office, with a digit wrong somewhere.
- The design is drawn from the client's floor plan, and the beam over the kitchen is found at installation.
- A water point or gas point is not where the drawing shows, and the sink base has to be remade.
- Nobody checked the measurement before production started.
How it works
- Open a new measurement sheet for the project (or the Measure tab of the Site app) and press Rooms from Project. Each room comes with four walls from its sizes.
- For each room, type the ceiling height, whether it is in scope, a note on anything that changes the design, and add photos.
- On each wall, A, B, C going round the room, type the length and height. Add its openings and points: kind, from the wall's left end, width, height and height from the floor.
- Press Submit. It is refused until every room in scope has its walls.
- The sheet goes to its approver: an Interiors Manager, or the levels of your Site Measurement chain. They approve it, or send it back with the reason, and the measurer gets a to-do.
- Once approved, the designer presses Rooms from Measurement on the 3D design, and later Check against the Site before locking it for production.
Everything it does
The sheet
- Project, date, measured by
- Rooms from Project: the project's rooms not yet on the sheet, with walls A to D from their length and width. A room without sizes comes without walls
- Per room: name, Ceiling Height (2700 mm to start with), In Scope, note, photos
- Per wall: name (A, B, C ...), Length (mm), Height (mm)
- Openings and points: Door, Window, Opening / Arch, Beam, Column, Water Point, Drain, Gas Point, Power Point, Switch Board, AC Point, Other. Each has From Left, Width, Height, From Floor (mm) and a note
- Status: Draft, Submitted, Approved, with who approved it
Checking
- Submit is refused until every room in scope has walls
- Approved by an Interiors Manager, or through the Site Measurement approval chain with levels
- Send Back puts the sheet back to draft and gives the measurer a to-do with the reason
- Approval Levels tab shows where the sheet is; filter To Approve
- On approval, the measurer becomes the project's Site Measurement lead if nobody holds that role
What it feeds
- The project's Site Measurement stage: it moves on when an approved sheet covers every room of the project
- Rooms from Measurement in the 3D designer: rooms in scope with every wall, door, window and service point. They come from the approved sheet, else the last submitted one
- Check against the Site on a design: ceiling heights, wall lengths, and doors' and windows' places and sizes compared. What differs beyond the tolerance is listed and kept on the design
- An estimate can be marked After Site Measurement
In the Site app
- Measure tab: open the project's sheet (rooms come from the project the first time)
- Per room: name, ceiling height, in scope, note, photos, and walls with their openings
- Save the room, then Submit the measurement
- Works without signal: what you do waits on the phone and goes in order when the signal is back
Who uses it
Measurement teamMeasures each room at site, on the web or in the Site app, and submits the sheet.
Interiors ManagerChecks the sheet and approves it or sends it back with the reason.
DesignerBrings the measured rooms into the 3D design and checks the design against the site before locking it.
Where you use it

- Site Measurement: an Interiors Manager approves to start with; add levels to the chain per entity
Notifications
- Approvers get the sheet in Approvals and as a to-do
- Sent back: the measurer gets a to-do with the reason
Questions
Can we measure without mobile signal?
Yes. The Site app keeps every room, wall and photo on the phone and sends them in order when the signal is back. The app is built and being tested; it is not in the app stores yet.Do the sizes go into the design by themselves?
Yes. Rooms from Measurement on the 3D design brings in every room in scope with its walls, doors, windows and service points. Can we measure in feet and inches?
The sheet is kept in mm. The 3D designer shows sizes in your unit, including feet and inches. What if the site differs from the design?
Check against the Site on the design lists every ceiling height, wall length, door and window that differs by more than the tolerance. The tolerance is 20 mm to start with, and you check before you lock it.Can the measurer approve their own sheet?
Approval needs an Interiors Manager or the approvers of your chain. A measurer who is neither cannot approve, so keep your measurers as users and your checkers as managers.Related features
