Photo-real renders and rooms from a photo

Turn a 3D snapshot into two photo-real pictures, and show a client three ideas for their room from a photo. Build a room in 3D from a picture. AI also drafts the brief from your call notes and reads sizes and finishes when you clip a vendor page.
PLANSScale only

The problem it solves

  • The client cannot picture the room from a 3D model, and an outside render costs days and a fee per view.
  • A client sends a magazine photo and says "like this", and the designer starts the room from nothing.
  • Call notes sit in a notebook, and the brief is typed out again later.
  • Clipping a sofa from a vendor's site means copying sizes, finishes and lead time by hand.

How it works

  1. In the 3D designer, take a snapshot of the view you want. On the design, press Render with AI: two photo-real pictures with the same layout come back into the design's snapshots.
  2. On a draft concept round, put a photo of the room as it is first on the mood board. Press Ideas with AI for three pictures of that room redesigned in the project's styles and your idea text.
  3. To copy a look, add a picture to Design to Apply and press Apply this Design with AI. You get three pictures of the client's room in that design.
  4. In the designer's Styles tab, pick a room and press From a picture. AI reads the photo into a style and a room package, and the room is furnished and finished in 3D, with its price. Undo puts back what was there.
  5. On a draft brief, write the Notes from the Client and press Draft with AI. The empty parts of the brief and each room's use and wishes are filled.
  6. Check every picture and field before you send anything to the client.

Everything it does

Render with AI (3D design)

  • Sends the latest snapshot of the design with the room names, the shutter finishes and the carcass material
  • Asks for 2 pictures at 16:9 that keep every cabinet, shutter and handle in place and size; no people, no text, no watermark
  • The button shows only when the design has a snapshot
  • The pictures are added to the design's snapshots; a note on the design says to check them before sending

Ideas with AI and Apply this Design with AI (concept rounds)

  • Works on a draft round only, with a photo of the room as the first picture on the Mood Board
  • Ideas with AI sends the photo, the project's styles (modern when none) and up to 600 characters of the round's idea text
  • Apply this Design with AI also sends the picture in Design to Apply, such as a magazine page or another home
  • Each asks for 3 pictures at 4:3 of the same room from the same viewpoint, with walls, windows, doors and ceiling height kept
  • The pictures go on the round's Mood Board for the designer to keep or drop before sharing the round

From a picture (3D designer, Styles tab)

  • A photo or picture of a room, up to 8 MB
  • The AI may answer only in the words your own styles and room packages use: their families, settings, values and placement rules
  • It makes a style named "From a picture: ..." with up to 5 main colours, and a room package for the room's type
  • The room is furnished by the package's rules and the style laid over it, as Auto-furnish and Apply style do. A snapshot "Before the picture" is kept and Undo works
  • The new style and package stay under Settings for the designer to change or use again. The package is kept inactive so Auto-furnish never picks it by itself
  • It needs a room type on the room and at least some styles or room packages in your database

Draft with AI (brief) and the library

  • Draft with AI reads up to 12,000 characters of notes. It fills only empty fields: family, needs, colours liked and disliked, must keep, storage, appliances, budget
  • Rooms the client spoke about are added with their use, wishes and what to keep; rooms already on the brief get only their empty fields
  • Only a draft brief is filled; a note on the brief says it was drafted by AI
  • Clip from Page on a product library item sends the page text (up to 12,000 characters). The AI fills empty sizes in mm, finishes, lead time in days, warranty months and the care guide

AI calls, what is saved, limits

  • Model calls: interior_render (2 pictures); interior_concept (3 pictures, Ideas or Apply this Design). Also space_picture (one smart call that reads a picture); interior_brief and interior_clip (one fast call each)
  • Models are chosen on our side, with no keys at your end. Today: a Gemini picture model for pictures, Gemini Flash-Lite for text
  • Saved without review: renders in the snapshots, concept pictures on the mood board, and the style, package and furnished room from a picture. Also filled brief and library fields. Nothing goes to the client until you send it
  • Each call needs AI switched on for the user by an administrator; it is off for new users
  • Each call is logged in Administration > AI > AI Usage with the user, the record, the allowance used and the allowance left. Failed calls are logged too
  • A call waits up to 3 minutes; if the AI service is busy or away, you are told and nothing is changed

Who uses it

DesignerRenders snapshots, makes concept ideas from room photos, builds a room from a client's picture and drafts briefs from call notes.
Principal designerChecks the pictures before they go to the client and decides who has AI switched on.
AdministratorSwitches AI on per user and watches the allowance under Administration > AI.

Where you use it

  • Web: Render with AI on a 3D design; Ideas with AI and Apply this Design with AI on a concept round. From a picture in the 3D designer's Styles tab; Draft with AI on a brief; Clip from Page on a library item
  • Web: Administration > AI > AI Users, AI Usage, AI Usage by Feature and Allowance
  • The client sees renders in the design's gallery and decision page, and concept pictures when the round is shared
  • Not in the SmartMy Interiors apps: the app's only AI button is Read the plan with AI on an instant quote

What you control

Settings

  • AI on or off per user: off until an administrator switches it on
  • Your styles and room packages: the words From a picture may use
  • Fixed in the code: 2 renders, 3 concept pictures, 8 MB a picture, 12,000 characters of notes or page text

Questions

Does the client see AI pictures before we check them?

Not unless you share them. Renders go into the design's snapshots, which the client sees in the gallery and decision page once you send the link. Concept pictures show when you share the round. Delete any picture you do not want first.

Will the render change our design?

The AI is told to keep the layout, positions, sizes and number of every cabinet, shutter and handle. It is still a picture made by AI, so check it against the design before sending.

How many renders do 500 credits give?

On our default settings a render gives 2 pictures at 20 credits each, so 40 credits. That is about 12 renders a month if the credits go only to renders.

Does From a picture use our own furniture and prices?

Yes. The AI may answer only in the words of your own styles and room packages. The room is built from your catalogue, so it carries your prices.

What happens to Clip from Page when our credits run out?

On Scale, Clip from Page always asks the AI. If AI is off for the user or the credits are used up, the clip stops with that message and nothing is filled. Fill the item by hand until the credits renew.

What data leaves our system?

Only what the button names: the snapshot and finishes, the room photo and idea, the picture, the notes, or the page text. Calls go to the AI service of your SmartMy subscription and each is logged in AI Usage.
