Tables, captains, split and merged bills
Set up floors and tables, and captains take orders by table on a tablet: guests, seats, notes and courses held and fired. Bills are split by items, seats, equally or by amounts, moved, merged and paid in several ways or in parts.
PLANSFrom Growth
Built and tested against our test server. The counter app has not yet run on a real tablet at an outlet and is not in the Play Store. Try it at one counter before you rely on it.
The problem it solves
- Orders are shouted to the kitchen, and the second round of a table is lost.
- Four friends want separate bills, and the cashier splits them with a calculator.
- A large group joins three tables, and their orders land on three bills.
- A table leaves after paying half, and nobody knows what is still owed.
How it works
- A Food Administrator adds floors and tables with their seats, and courses such as Starters, Mains and Desserts. The outlet's Table Service is switched on.
- The captain opens the Tables tab, taps a free table and sets the number of guests.
- They tap the items. Each can have a note such as "less spicy", a seat, a course and Hold.
- Send to kitchen sends only what is new, as tickets to each station. Held items go when the captain taps Fire for their course.
- The table tile turns to in the kitchen, then ready. The captain adds rounds, splits, moves or merges as the table asks.
- The bill is paid in one way or several, or in parts. The bill number and the receipt come when it is paid in full, and the table is free again.
Everything it does
Tables and orders
- Floors with tables and seats (4 to start with); a table is busy while a bill is open
- Guests per bill, the captain who opened it, My tables for each captain
- Seats per item for bills split by seat; courses with a default per item; Hold and Fire per course
- A lower quantity after sending needs a reason and sends a cancellation; once the kitchen started, a supervisor approves and the food counts as waste
- Kitchen tickets can be printed again or have items voided, with a reason from a list
Split, move and merge
- Split: chosen items to a new bill, a bill per seat, equally in N parts, or by amounts
- Move the bill to a free table, move chosen items to another table, merge other bills into this one
- Join tables into one bill for a large party (the receipt says T1 + T3) and free a joined table again
- Hand a bill over to another captain
- Each split bill is paid and numbered on its own; what the kitchen has moves with the items
Paying
- Several payment modes on one bill; part payments shown as Paid so far and Left to pay
- A part-paid bill cannot be split, merged or joined
- A bill discount is checked again at payment if items were taken off after it was approved
- Cancel the bill (supervisor): each part already paid goes back the way it came. Cash from the drawer, wallet to the wallet, card or UPI with a refund reference
- Paying needs an open shift on the tablet that takes the money
