Spending limits, blocked items and allergy alerts

Set a daily and a weekly spending limit for a customer, and block items or categories they must not buy. The counter shows a red alert for their allergies and diet. Parents set limits for their children on the portal or in the app.
PLANSFrom Growth

The problem it solves

  • A child spends a week's pocket money on chips in a day.
  • A student with a nut allergy is sold a dish with peanuts by a new cashier.
  • Parents ask the school to stop fizzy drinks for their child and the counter cannot check.

How it works

  1. Open the customer's contact and, on the Food Service tab, fill in the daily and weekly limits.
  2. Add blocked items and categories, and the customer's allergens and diet note.
  3. Or a parent sets the limits on the portal or in the app, for the child on their list.
  4. At the counter, scanning the card checks the limits and the blocked items before payment.
  5. A sale over a limit or with a blocked item is refused with the reason. Allergy and diet warnings show in red.

Everything it does

Limits

  • Daily Spending Limit and Weekly Spending Limit (Monday to Sunday); 0 means no limit
  • They count what the customer paid on all orders that day or week, at every Entity
  • Checked at the counter, the kiosk, bookings and the back office

Blocked items

  • Blocked categories and blocked items per customer
  • Set by staff in the back office

Allergy and diet alerts

  • The customer's allergens against the item's allergens
  • The diet note, and veg or non-veg against the item
  • Shown in red at the counter; they warn but do not stop the sale

Parents

  • A parent listed as a menu contact of the child sets the daily and weekly limits on the portal or in the app
  • The child cannot change their own limits

Without network

  • An offline counter reports a sale over a limit when it syncs; it does not stop it

Questions

Can a parent limit how much a child spends a day?

Yes. On the portal or in the app, the parent sets a daily and a weekly limit. The counter refuses a sale over it.

Does an allergy alert stop the sale?

No. It shows in red for the cashier. To stop an item entirely, block it on the customer.

Can parents block items?

Not yet. Parents set limits; the school or canteen office blocks items and categories.

Does the limit work when the counter is offline?

The offline counter cannot stop the sale. It reports the sale over the limit when it syncs.
