SmartMy Feast app for diners
The SmartMy Feast app for iPhone and Android holds the diner's QR card for the counter. It also has today's meals to answer, two weeks of menus, the wallet, bookings with their slips, meal plans and history. Parents switch between their children.
PLANSFrom Growth
Built and in testing, not in the app stores yet; it has not been run on a real phone.
The problem it solves
- Students forget their canteen card, and the queue stops while the cashier types names.
- Members of a meal plan do not say in time that they will skip dinner, so food is thrown away.
- Parents cannot see what the child ate or how much is left in the wallet.
- A mess manager prints the week's menu on a notice board nobody reads.
How it works
- The diner opens SmartMy Feast and signs in with the same login and password as the web, or a passkey. The first time, the app may ask for your server address.
- The app opens on Today. It shows the QR card with the name, customer type, wallet balance and points. Then Meals to answer and Vote for a menu.
- At the counter, the cashier scans the QR card to serve the plan meal or charge the wallet. It works like a plastic card.
- The Menu holds Meals (Menu, Bookings, Meal plans, Diet and allergies, History) and Wallet. Each screen shows only when your outlet uses that part.
- A parent sees chips with each child's name on top of every screen and taps one to switch.
Everything it does
Today
- The QR card, shown in red when the balance is low
- Meals to answer: each coming plan meal with Answer by and its time limit; Eating, Not eating, or a combo (which also answers Eating)
- Vote for a menu: the open polls
- Shortcuts to Meal plans and Diet and allergies
Meals
- Menu: published menus of the next 14 days, for the outlets of the person's meal plans and every outlet that serves their customer type; non-vegetarian dishes marked
- Bookings: Book a meal with the + at the top, for the next 7 days. It is priced first and paid from the wallet, with points or online. Each booking opens as a slip with a QR code, to print or share; Cancel before the cut-off
- Meal plans: the active plans with dates and meals taken. Renew from the wallet when it ends. Buy a plan from a chosen day, with the price from that day, from the wallet or online
- Diet and allergies: diet, allergens and a note for the kitchen. Only the customer or a parent can change it, and the outlet managers are told
- History: meals taken and purchases of the last month; Rate a recent meal with one to five stars and a comment
Wallet
- Wallet balance and Top up online with 100, 200, 500 or 1000. Without online payments the app says Top up at the counter
- To pay: unpaid food invoices and purchases on account not yet invoiced. Pay opens the invoice's page in the browser, or the app says to pay at the office
- Points, badges and rewards with Get it
- Spending limits (parents only): Per day and Per week
- New QR card: the old code stops working
- Entries: the wallet's movements
Also in the app
- Face consent for counter face recognition, for yourself or a child (Scale, when an outlet uses it)
- Report confidentially, with SmartMy Grievance
- My approvals, for anyone named on an approval level
- The Inbox under the bell; a food notification opens the right screen: the wallet, the menu or the history

Questions
Is the app in the Play Store?
Not yet. It is built and in testing. Until it is in the stores, your organisation or its supplier gives you the app.Do phone notifications arrive?
Not yet as push. Push is built into the app and is not switched on. Messages arrive in the app's Inbox and by email, and by WhatsApp or SMS where your organisation uses them. What if a student loses the phone?
Sign in on another phone or the portal and tap New QR card in the Wallet. The old code stops working at once. Can a hostel resident buy a meal plan in the app?
No need. A plan that comes with the bed or is billed through fees starts by itself. The resident sees it, answers meals and sees what is owed. Can the app pay a mess fee?
It shows what is owed. Pay opens the invoice's page in the browser, where it can be paid online if your organisation offers it.Related features
