Self-order kiosk
A tablet stands at the entrance as a kiosk. Diners scan their card to take their plan meal or pick dishes. They pay from the wallet, on a card machine beside it, or at the counter with a printed slip. Visitors can order without a card at their own prices.
PLANSFrom Growth
Built and tested against our test server; the Kiosk app has not yet run on a real tablet with a card machine and a printer. Card machines and printers are tested with you before go-live.
The problem it solves
- One cashier faces a queue of 150 at lunch, most of whom only need their plan meal marked.
- Diners who know what they want wait behind those who are still choosing.
- Visitors without a card cannot order until someone helps them.
How it works
- A Food Administrator adds a device with Mode Self-order Kiosk and chooses the user its sales are recorded as. They tick the ways to pay it offers.
- The kiosk tablet runs SmartMy Feast Kiosk; nobody logs in. A diner scans the card or app QR. If allowed, Order without a card is offered too.
- My meal takes the plan or token meal of the session at once. Or the diner taps dishes by category, with photos, and sold-out dishes marked.
- If the kiosk asks, the diner chooses Eat here or Take away; take away adds the packing charge.
- They pay from the wallet or by card or UPI on the machine beside the kiosk. Pay at the counter prints a slip with the order number in large digits.
- Paid orders go to the kitchen at once. A pay-at-the-counter order goes once the cashier takes the payment.
Everything it does
Ways to pay
- Wallet (scan the card): on to start with
- Card / UPI on the Payment Machine: the sale is recorded when the machine approves; a plain UPI QR nobody checks is not offered
- Order Here, Pay at the Counter: the cashier finds the bill marked Kiosk on the Tables tab; needs table service
- A kiosk never takes cash and gives no discounts
Rules
- Without a Card: Prices For a customer type such as Visitor; empty means a card is always needed
- The kiosk starts again after 60 seconds without a touch
- Unpaid kiosk bills are cancelled after 30 minutes (0: never), if nothing was paid and the kitchen never got them
- Blocked items, daily and weekly limits and the wallet balance are checked as at the counter
- The kiosk numbers its bills in its own series, also offline for wallet payments

Questions
Can a kiosk take cash?
No. It takes the wallet, the card machine beside it, or sends the diner to the counter with a slip. Can visitors without a card use it?
Yes, if you set Without a Card: Prices For, such as Visitor. They then pay on the machine or at the counter. What happens to an order nobody pays for?
A pay-at-the-counter bill is cancelled after 30 minutes, if nothing was paid and the kitchen never had it. You can change or switch off the delay.Which card machines work?
The system has connections for Pine Labs, Razorpay POS and Stripe Terminal. None has run with a real machine at a customer yet, so we test yours with you before go-live.Related features
COUNTERCustomer found by card or QR at the counterThe cashier scans a card or the QR code in the diner's app. The counter shows the name, customer type, photo, wallet balance and the meal due. Lost, blocked and expired cards stop working at the next sync.COUNTEROne-tap serve of plan and token mealsScan the card and the meal a plan or token covers is served in one tap, or on the scan itself. The counter checks the session, the opt-out and a second helping, also without the network.PAYINGPrepaid walletEach customer has a food wallet. It is topped up at the counter or in the office, in Growth also online, and spent at every counter by scanning the card. Every change is an entry that is never edited, only reversed, and a low balance raises an alert.PAYINGCard machine linkLink a card machine to a counter so the amount goes to the machine. The customer taps or inserts the card, and the approval comes back to the bill. Card brand, last four digits and approval code are kept, and refunds go back to the card where the provider allows.TABLE SERVICE AND KITCHENKitchen screens and station ticketsEach kitchen station sees its tickets on a tablet or prints them on its own printer. A tap moves a ticket from new to preparing, ready and done. Late tickets turn red, and a ticket cleared by mistake can be recalled.PORTAL AND APPSCaptain, kitchen screen and kiosk appsThe same tablet code runs three more jobs. A captain takes table orders on SmartMy Feast Counter. The kitchen works its tickets on SmartMy Feast Kitchen. Customers order and pay by themselves on SmartMy Feast Kiosk.
