Dashboards: Site, Projects, Quality

Ready dashboards open first in Construction: Site for every site engineer, Projects and Quality for managers, and Sales for the sales team. Every number counts only what the viewer may open, and a click shows the records behind it.
PLANSEvery plan

The problem it solves

  • The managing director calls each site in the evening to ask what happened today.
  • Approvals pile up because nobody sees the wage runs, bills and material requests waiting.
  • Failed inspections and open snags are found at handover, not when they happen.
  • Someone builds a weekly MIS sheet by hand, and it is out of date the next day.

How it works

  1. Open Construction. The Site Dashboard and, for managers, the Quality Dashboard are at the top of the menu. The Projects Dashboard is first under Projects, the Sales Dashboard first under Sales.
  2. Every tile is counted as you. A site engineer sees only the projects they are on; a manager sees every project of the Entity.
  3. Pick the date range, such as this month or the last 7 days. Number tiles compare with the period before.
  4. Click a tile, a bar or a slice to open the records behind it, such as the wage runs to approve.
  5. Press edit to drag and resize items on the grid, or to add, change and remove them. The layout you set is yours alone.
  6. Make a private copy to build your own, or set one as your dashboard.

Everything it does

Site Dashboard (every Construction user)

  • My projects, daily reports in draft and submitted, open issues, workers present today, snags not closed
  • Open issues by kind (pie), reports by project (bars)
  • With Growth: lab results overdue, active permits to work

Projects Dashboard (managers)

  • Running projects, client updates to approve, client comments not seen, high issues open
  • Wage runs, material requests and subcontractor bills to approve; budget lines over budget
  • Updates sent (bars), projects by status (pie)
  • With Growth: critical activities open, open non-conformances, incidents, plant broken down
  • With the Lending add-on or the developer features: drawdowns with the bank, loans outstanding, units available, buyer payments overdue, loan money with customers, bookings

Quality Dashboard (managers)

  • Inspections passed and failed, first-time results (pie), failures by whose work (bars)
  • Snags not closed, snags overdue, open snags by trade
  • With Growth: lab results overdue, lab tests failed, open non-conformances, cost of rework

Sales Dashboard (sales staff and managers)

  • Open and hot enquiries, follow-ups due, won, site visits coming, enquiries by source and by status
  • With Growth: plan estimates sent

What you can do on a dashboard

  • Date range: today, this week, month, quarter or year, the last 7, 30, 90 days or 12 months, all time; this month to start with
  • Refresh by hand or every 30 seconds, minute, 5 or 15 minutes
  • Edit mode: drag and resize on a 12-column grid, saved as your own layout
  • Add a number tile (count, sum, average, minimum, maximum), a chart (bars, line, area, pie, doughnut, funnel and more), a list, or your activities. A live preview shows it
  • Make a private copy; set as my dashboard

Access

  • Every number follows the viewer's access: nobody sees a count of records they could not open
  • Tiles of features not installed are left out
  • Administrators share dashboards with groups or named people; shared ones also show in the Dashboard app

Questions

Will a site engineer see company-wide numbers?

No. Every number is counted as the person looking, so a site engineer sees only the projects they are on. The Projects and Quality dashboards are for managers.

We moved up to Growth. Do the new tiles appear?

Not by themselves. The ready dashboards are filled once, when Construction is installed, so tiles for features added later are added by hand in edit mode.

Can we add our own tiles?

Yes. In edit mode add a number, a chart or a list on any data you can see, with a filter and a date field. Make a private copy first if you do not want to change the shared one.

Does it show progress against the schedule or cash position?

Not as a ready tile. Over-budget lines and critical activities are there; for cost and cash, use Budget Analysis and the Cash Flow Chart under Reporting.

Which plan has it?

Every plan, Starter included. The tiles grow with the features of your plan.

SITEDaily site report with auto-submitThe site enters the day once: work done by place, labour, material, plant, weather, issues and photos. A report still in draft at the project's cut-off is submitted by itself, so the company and client updates go out on time.PLANT, SCHEDULE, QUALITY, SAFETYChecklists, inspections and snagsInspect work at its place with your own checklists: pass or fail, measurements against tolerances, photos and the engineer's signature. Failed points become snags with a photo before and after, fixed by the crew or subcontractor and closed by your engineer. Material received at a site store gets its own receipt check.MONEYBuilding budget with 80 and 100 % alertsOne budget per project, by cost code and place, approved once and changed only by approved revisions. Costs from site flow into it every hour. The project manager is told when a line passes 80 % and 100 % used.ACROSS SMARTMY CONSTRUCTIONApproval chainsBudgets, material requests, wage runs, work orders, subcontractor and client bills, client updates, piece work, permits and more need approval. They go to the right people in order, set up without code. Every decision is kept with who made it, when and why.PLANT, SCHEDULE, QUALITY, SAFETYLab tests, non-conformances and the quality gate on billingTrack every sample from the pour to the lab result: cubes at 7 and 28 days, steel, soil, brick and water. Each is due on its date and passed or failed against its limits. A failed test raises a non-conformance by itself; a closed one charged to a subcontractor comes off their next running bill. With the quality gate on, work is certified for billing only when its hold points have passed.PROJECTS AND SET-UPStages you leave only when the checks passEvery job moves through your stages, from Planning and Approvals to the Defects Period. A stage lets go only when its checks pass, such as the key events done or the client's stage payment received. Passing anyway takes an approval with the reason on record.
