Product options and stock from your records

Sizes, colours and other options on the website are your products' own variants, each with its price, SKU and stock. When your database has Inventory, the site shows what is left and checkout will not sell what you do not have.
PLANSFrom Growth

The problem it solves

  • The website says a size is available that sold out in the shop yesterday.
  • Each colour is listed as a separate product, so buyers never see the choice in one place.
  • Prices on the site are typed again and do not match the price list or the tax.
  • Two buyers pay for the last piece and one of them gets a refund and an apology.

How it works

  1. Give the product its options in SmartMy as variants, for example Size S, M, L and Colour Red, Blue. Each variant can have its own price and SKU.
  2. Tick Sell Online. The site gets every active variant with its price including tax, its options and, with Inventory, its stock.
  3. On the product page buyers pick the options as buttons; price, stock line and SKU change with the choice.
  4. When stock changes, the site is updated within five minutes.
  5. At checkout SmartMy checks the stock again. If fewer pieces are left than asked for, the buyer is told how many remain.

Everything it does

Options

  • Options are the product's attributes and values; each combination is a variant
  • Each variant carries its price, SKU, barcode and options to the site
  • Product cards show From and the lowest price when variants differ
  • Option values also become filters on category pages

Prices

  • Prices come from the product's sale price, or from the price list chosen for the site
  • Prices are shown with tax when your products carry tax, with a note "incl. taxes"
  • Price Before (struck through) is set per product and shown with the saving
  • Buy more, pay less and deals lower the price at checkout as shown

Stock

  • Read from Inventory for products that keep stock; services and products without stock are always buyable
  • When something is out of stock: Show it as sold out, Hide it, or Keep selling (back-order)
  • Sell When Out of Stock on a single product overrides the shop setting for it
  • "Only a few left" shows when the total is below the number you set (5 to start with)
  • Checkout refuses a quantity above stock unless back-orders are allowed
  • Back-in-stock emails tell waiting buyers when it returns

Keeping the site up to date

  • A change to a product's name, price, tax, options, pictures, description or categories marks the shop for sending
  • Changed shops are sent every five minutes, and at once with Send to the site now
  • Price list changes reach sites that use that list

Questions

We only have SmartMy Website. Will stock show?

No. The Website plans bring Sales but not Inventory, so products have no stock count and can always be bought. Stock shows when another SmartMy product in the same database brings Inventory.

Can one size cost more than another?

Yes. Each variant can cost more through its option's extra price or your price list. The page shows the price of the chosen option.

What if two people buy the last piece at once?

Stock is checked again when each order is placed. Once it is used up, the next checkout is told how many are left.

How fast do price changes reach the site?

Within five minutes. A Website Manager can press Send to the site now in the Shop tab to send at once.
