Sales analysis and discounts by cashier
Sales Analysis shows paid sales and refunds in a pivot table or a graph, by day, register, cashier, customer or session. Discounts by Cashier shows who gives how much off, why and who approved it. Every list of registers, sessions, orders, products and payment methods can be searched, grouped and exported.
PLANSEvery plan
The problem it solves
- The owner asks how last Saturday compared with this one, and the answer takes a day of spreadsheets.
- One cashier gives far more discount than the others, and nobody notices.
- Discounts given for an offer are mixed up with discounts typed at the counter.
- On a shared counter, nobody can tell which employee made which sale.
How it works
- Open Point of Sale > Reports > Sales Analysis. It opens as a pivot: days in rows, registers in columns, totals in the cells.
- Click a header to break it down by Cashier, Sold By, Customer, Session, week or month. Switch to a graph by day as bars, lines or a pie.
- Filter by Refunds, Invoiced or Date, save a view you use often as a favourite, and download the pivot as a spreadsheet.
- Open Point of Sale > Reports > Discounts by Cashier: cashiers in rows, months in columns. It shows discounted sales and lines, the discount and its share of sales.
- Filter Discounted, Complimentary, Promotions or Needed Approval, and group by Reason, Register, Session, Day or Approved By.
- Point of Sale > Reports > Counter Approvals lists every supervisor and manager approval given at a counter.

STORES AND REPORTSSeveral stores, each with its own booksRun each store as an Entity with its own registers, payment methods, journals and settings. Each store's sessions post in its own books, and its staff see only their own store. A manager who may switch to several stores sees them together in the same lists and reports.SELLINGRefunds and discounts with a supervisor PINRefund the lines and quantities that come back, with a reason, found by receipt number or customer. Give line or bill discounts with a reason up to the cashier's limit. A supervisor approves each refund on the cashier's screen with a password or a PIN that works once.SELLINGHigher discounts, price changes and items on the houseEach register sets three discount bands: what a cashier gives alone, what a supervisor approves and what only a POS manager approves. Items or whole bills given on the house need a reason and an approval, and their value is reported apart from discounts.SESSIONS AND CASHShifts, cash count and X and Z reportsEach register runs one session at a time. It is opened with the cash in the drawer, and closed with a count note by note and a reason for any difference. Cash in and out is recorded with a reason, and the X and Z reports give the figures of the shift.LOYALTY, PROMOTIONS AND DEPOSITSPromotions, happy hours and coupon codesSet up an offer once and the counter applies it by itself when the cart fits. It can be a % off, an amount off each unit, buy X get Y free, or another product free or cheaper. Or mix and match, a bundle price or a bill over an amount. Limit it to dates, weekdays, hours, registers, products, customer tags or a coupon code. A branch can have promotions approved through an approval chain first.SET-UPRoles, branches and a shared counter with PINsFour roles decide who sells, who approves and who sets up, and each person sees only the stores they may switch to. On a shared counter, staff sign in with their own PIN, so every sale shows who made it.
