Processing at job workers with shrinkage, shade and weight
Send grey fabric or yarn to a dyeing, printing or washing house on a job work challan, naming the roll. Each roll that comes back carries its shade and kg, and the challan shows the shrinkage and any loss above what the process allows.
PLANSFrom Growth
The problem it solves
- The processing house sends back fewer metres than it received, and nobody can say if that is normal shrinkage or loss.
- Rolls come back in a different shade, and the shade is written only on the roll's sticker.
- Material at the dyer is forgotten until the buyer's ship date.
- Grey fabric sent out drops out of stock, so its value disappears from the books.
How it works
- Set up your processes once under Job Work > Processes (dyeing, printing, washing), each with its usual rate and the loss allowed in percent.
- Raise a challan under Job Work > Challans: the job worker, process, plant and expected date back. Add the material sent with the roll on each line, and what comes back with its job charge per unit.
- Press Send Material. The rolls move to your stock at the job worker, still yours and still valued, and the job worker is sent the challan details.
- When goods come back press Receive. Type the lot or roll number, the shade and the kg of each roll back; the material used fills itself.
- Each roll back is made into stock with its roll number, shade, kg and metres. The challan shows the shrinkage and flags loss above the allowed percent.
- Press Make Bill for what came back, or Close to write off what is left as loss.
Everything it does
What textile adds to job work
- Roll Sent on each material line: the roll goes on the transfer as that lot
- Shade and Kg for each roll received, kept on the receipt line and on the new roll
- The new roll gets the roll number you typed, its shade and kg, and its metres when the item is kept in metres
- Shrinkage (%) on the challan: material used against what came back, worked out in the same unit
The job work challan
- Stages: Draft, At Job Worker, Partly Back, Closed, Cancelled
- Per material: sent, used, returned unused, lost, still there, loss percent, and Loss Above Allowed
- Value Sent and Job Charges on the challan; transfers, production records and bills linked to it
- Material at Job Workers: the balance by job worker and material
- Make Bill is for Production Managers
Paperwork
- The material leaves on a stock transfer, whose delivery slip can be printed
- A printed job work challan of its own is not built
- On Scale with Indian GST: the e-way bill goes on a delivery challan of sub-type Job Work or Job Work Returns. It is at cost and without tax. Tested with you before go-live

Questions
How is shrinkage worked out?
The material used on the challan against what came back, as a percent. Both must be in the same unit, for example metres sent and metres back, or the figure means little.Does the shade of each roll come back into stock?
Yes. Type the shade and kg of each roll when you receive. The new roll keeps them, so you can group rolls by shade or dye lot later. Is our fabric still in stock while it is at the dyer?
Yes. It sits in a location for that job worker, still yours and still valued, and shows under Material at Job Workers.Does the job worker hear from us?
When you send material, the job worker gets the challan number, process, what to return and the date: by WhatsApp, else SMS, else email. They do not log in anywhere. Can we print a job work challan?
The stock transfer's delivery slip prints. A challan print of its own is not built yet; on Scale with Indian GST the e-way bill covers job work goods.Related features
