Portal feeds, Rightmove BLM among them
Give a property portal one private feed address, and it reads your published listings from there. A feed carries every published listing, or only those you tick for that portal.
PLANSFrom Growth
The problem it solves
- The same flat is typed into four portals, each with a different price.
- A let unit stays on a portal for weeks because nobody took it down.
- Photos and descriptions differ between your own page and the portals.
How it works
- A Lease Manager opens Lease > Configuration > Properties and Leasing > Portal Feeds > New: the portal's name, the format and your reference at the portal.
- Choose Every Published Listing, or turn it off and tick this feed on the listings that should go there.
- SmartMy gives the feed a private Feed Address. Give it to the portal under your account with them.
- The portal reads the address and gets your published listings with photos, price, facts and the agent's contact.
- A listing that is withdrawn or let leaves the feed the next time the portal reads it.
Everything it does
Formats
- Generic XML
- Property Finder / Bayut (XML)
- Rightmove (BLM, version 3 layout)
- Domain / realestate.com.au (XML)
- 99acres / MagicBricks (XML)
What a listing carries
- Reference, title, description, price and period, currency, purpose, unit type
- Bedrooms, bathrooms, area and its unit, furnishing, features
- Building, street, city, postcode, country and map position; available from
- Photo links, video link, listing page link; agent's name, email and phone
Good to know
- The XML formats share one layout with the portal's own top tags; check the fields with each portal before you go live
- The feeds have not yet been tried with a portal
- The feed address is private: anyone with it can read your published listings
- A portal account is needed; SmartMy does not open one for you
Who uses it
Lease ManagerSets up a feed per portal and gives the portal its address.
Leasing agentTicks which portals a listing goes to, when the feed is not for every listing.
Where you use it
- Web: Lease > Configuration > Properties and Leasing > Portal Feeds; the Publishing tab of a listing
- Feed address: read by the portal, no login
- Not a two-way link: enquiries from portals are added as enquiries with source Property Portal
What you control
Settings
- Per feed: format (Generic XML to start with), our reference at the portal, Every Published Listing (on to start with)
Questions
Does it upload to Rightmove by itself?
SmartMy builds the BLM file at the feed address. How a portal collects it is set with the portal; check with them before go-live.Have the feeds been tried with the portals?
Not yet. They follow each portal's published layout as far as our listings go. We test the feed with you and the portal before you rely on it.Can a listing go to one portal only?
Yes. Turn off Every Published Listing on the feed and tick that feed on the listings that should go there.Which plan has it?
