Own factory, outside vendor or both

Each cut list says who makes it: your own factory or an outside vendor. Your factory gets a manufacturing order with the boards it will use; a vendor gets the panel list and the drawings by email. Mix both on one project, and the project moves on only when every cut list is made.
PLANSFrom Growth

The problem it solves

  • Some jobs go to your own factory and some to a partner, and nobody can say which panels are where.
  • The partner factory gets a PDF and a phone call, and the date needed is lost in WhatsApp.
  • Your factory starts cutting before the boards are in stock, because nobody turned the cut list into an order.
  • Installation is booked while half the panels are still not made.

How it works

  1. On the cut list, choose Made By: Our Factory, or A Vendor and the vendor. Set Needed By.
  2. Build and check the cut list, then press Release.
  3. For a vendor: they get a message by email with the panel list (CSV) and the drawings of every panel (DXF zip) attached. It gives the panel count and the date needed.
  4. For your factory with SmartMy Manufacturing: a manufacturing order for Modular furniture is made, one unit per box. Each board that has a stock product is a material in sheets. The order shows on the cut list.
  5. When the panels are made, press Made. A cut list with a manufacturing order becomes Made by itself once the order is done.
  6. The project's Production stage waits until every cut list of the project is made, by your factory or a vendor.

Everything it does

Who makes it

  • Made By: Our Factory (to start with) or A Vendor, per cut list
  • One project can have several cut lists, some for your factory and some for vendors; each cut list takes every box of its design
  • Needed By date, sent to the vendor and put on the manufacturing order as its deadline
  • Filter In the Factory: every cut list released and not made yet

Your own factory (with SmartMy Manufacturing)

  • On release: one manufacturing order per cut list for the product Modular furniture, quantity the number of boxes
  • Its materials: each board of the Boards tab that has a Stock Product, in sheets after nesting
  • Stock Product: set on each board material, the product it is bought and kept in stock as
  • Made by itself when the order is done (checked every hour)
  • Back to Draft or Cancel cancels an order not yet done; releasing again makes a new one
  • A cut list whose order is done cannot go back

Your own factory (without Manufacturing)

  • Release, print the labels and the files, and press Made when the panels are made
  • No stock or manufacturing order is made

An outside vendor

  • On release: a message to the vendor with the CSV and the DXF zip, the panel count and the date needed
  • The message and the files stay on the cut list's chatter, so you can see what was sent
  • Press Made when the vendor delivers
  • Not built: a vendor page for cut lists; the vendor confirms by reply or phone

Where you use it

  • Web: Interiors > Projects > Factory > Cut Lists (Made By, Release, Made)
  • With SmartMy Manufacturing: the manufacturing order, linked from the cut list
  • Email: the vendor's copy of the files
  • Not on a vendor page: the vendor page is for furniture and fittings purchase orders, not cut lists

What you control

Settings

  • Made By per cut list: Our Factory to start with
  • Stock Product on each board material (with Manufacturing)
  • The project stage that waits for every cut list: Production, with the check Every cut list made

Notifications

  • Vendor: an email with the files on release
  • No notification event for the factory; the manufacturing order is the factory's work list

Questions

Can one kitchen go to our factory and the wardrobes to a vendor?

Yes, if they are separate designs of the project, each with its own cut list and Made By. A cut list takes every box of its design; picking some boxes of one design for a vendor is not built. The project waits until every cut list is made.

Do we need SmartMy Manufacturing?

No. Without it, release to your factory and press Made when done. With it, you also get the manufacturing order and the boards taken from stock.

Does the vendor get a login or a page?

Not for cut lists. The vendor gets the files by email. A vendor page exists for furniture and fittings orders, where the vendor confirms and gives the ship date.

Are the boards bought for us?

No purchase order is made from the cut list. The manufacturing order shows the sheets needed, and you buy them through your normal purchasing.
