Card machine link
Link a card machine to a counter so the amount goes to the machine. The customer taps or inserts the card, and the approval comes back to the bill. Card brand, last four digits and approval code are kept, and refunds go back to the card where the provider allows.
PLANSFrom Growth
The problem it solves
- The cashier types the wrong amount on the card machine and the day does not balance.
- A card slip is lost and nobody can match a sale to its card payment.
- Refunds to a card are done on the machine with no link to the bill.
How it works
- Under Food Service > Counters > Counters and Devices > Card Terminals, add the machine and choose its outlets and counters.
- On the Card payment mode, link the machine and decide whether a machine must be used.
- At the counter the cashier taps Card. The amount is sent to the machine.
- The customer pays on the machine. The tablet waits for the answer and then records the sale.
- If the payment fails or the cashier cancels it, nothing is recorded and the cashier can try again or choose another mode.
Everything it does
Machines
- A machine serves the outlets and counters you choose, of its own branch only
- Card and UPI payment modes can use a machine
- One payment at a time per machine; a wait of 15 seconds before the cashier is asked to check
- Each card payment keeps the amount, the brand, the last four digits, the approval code and the counter, shift and order
Terminal Required
- On (to start with): the mode is taken only through the machine
- Off: the cashier can also type the slip details from a machine that is not linked
- Without network the counter cannot use a linked machine
Refunds and wallet
- A void or a give-back refunds to the card on the machine where the provider allows it
- Otherwise the bill notes the amount to refund on the machine by hand
- A wallet top-up can be paid on the machine; to undo it, reverse the top-up
- The kiosk takes card payments on its machine
Records
- Food Service > Counters > Tickets and Payments > Card Payments lists every card payment with its state and refunds
- The provider's raw answers are kept for the Food Administrator

Questions
Which card machines work?
The link is built and tested against a simulated machine. Your machine and provider are tested with you before go-live.What if the network drops during a card payment?
The counter cannot use a linked machine offline. The cashier can check the payment's state once back online, or take another mode. Can a refund go back to the card?
Yes, where the provider allows it. Otherwise the bill notes the amount to refund on the machine by hand.Do we need this to take cards?
No. Without a link, the cashier runs the card on the bank's machine and taps Card.Related features
PAYINGCash, card and UPI paymentsTake cash, UPI and card at the counter, along with the wallet, tokens and the other payment modes your outlet allows. UPI shows a QR code for the exact amount, and every payment goes to its own journal for the day's takings.TABLE SERVICE AND KITCHENSelf-order kioskA tablet stands at the entrance as a kiosk. Diners scan their card to take their plan meal or pick dishes. They pay from the wallet, on a card machine beside it, or at the counter with a printed slip. Visitors can order without a card at their own prices.COUNTERVoids, refunds and discounts with a supervisor PINDiscounts on a line or a whole bill need a reason and stay within the cashier's, supervisor's and administrator's limits. Voids and part refunds need a reason and a supervisor, who approves with a PIN on the cashier's own tablet.COUNTERShifts, cash count and X and Z reportsEach cashier opens a shift with the cash in the drawer and records cash in and out with a reason. At closing they count by note and coin. The system works out the expected cash, the shortage or excess and the X and Z reports.PAYINGPrepaid walletEach customer has a food wallet. It is topped up at the counter or in the office, in Growth also online, and spent at every counter by scanning the card. Every change is an entry that is never edited, only reversed, and a low balance raises an alert.
