Pop-ups and newsletter sign-ups
Collect email addresses with a newsletter box on any page or in the footer. Show a pop-up after some seconds, on leaving, after scrolling, or from a button. You choose how often the same visitor sees it, and every sign-up lands in Form Entries.
PLANSEvery plan
The problem it solves
- Visitors read one page and leave, and you never hear from them again.
- A pop-up that opens on every page and every visit drives people away.
- Sign-ups are kept in a separate mailing tool that nobody in the office checks.
- A festive offer needs a banner on the site for two weeks, and taking it down is forgotten.
How it works
- In the editor press + Add section > Contact and choose Newsletter or Pop-up. For the footer, pick the newsletter footer layout.
- For a newsletter box, set the title, text, email hint, button, small print and thank-you message, and whether to ask for a name.
- For a pop-up, choose when it shows and how often, then its title, text, picture and button, and whether it asks for an email.
- Give the sign-ups a name, such as Festive offer, so you can find them in Form Entries.
- Publish. Sign-ups arrive in Websites > Form Entries, and the people who follow the site are told.
Everything it does
Newsletter box
- Layouts: colour band, in a box, with a picture, quiet line; also the newsletter footer on every page
- Fields: small line above, title, text, ask for a name too, hint in the email box and button text. Also small print (for example No spam), message after signing up, picture
- The email address is checked before it is taken
Pop-up
- Layouts: box in the middle, with a picture, small box in the corner, bar along the bottom
- Shows: after some seconds (5, 10, 20 or 40; 10 to start with), or when the visitor is about to leave. Or after scrolling down (almost half or most of the page), or only from a link or button pointing at #popup
- On phones, which have no about-to-leave moment, the leaving pop-up shows after 30 seconds
- How often: once per visitor (to start with), once a day, or every visit; remembered in the visitor's browser
- Ask for an email, with its hint, thank-you message and name for the entries; or no email, just a message and a button
- Text to close (for example No thanks); Escape and a click outside also close it
- Only one pop-up shows at a time
Sign-ups
- Each sign-up is an entry in Websites > Form Entries, of kind Newsletter or Pop-up. It holds the email, the name if asked, the page and the time
- The same spam brakes as forms: a hidden robot field, a 2-second check, and 8 entries per address in 10 minutes
- With SmartMy Marketing (Growth or Scale): the contact is made or found and tagged Website sign-up. Its email consent is recorded with proof, and it is added to a segment for the site

Questions
Will the pop-up annoy visitors?
You decide how often: once per visitor, once a day, or every visit. Only one pop-up shows at a time, and Escape or a click outside closes it.Can a button open the pop-up?
Yes. Set Shows to Only from a link or button and point any button at #popup.Where do the email addresses go?
To Websites > Form Entries. With SmartMy Marketing on Growth or Scale, they also become Marketing contacts with their consent, ready for campaigns. Can I send the newsletter from SmartMy Website?
No. SmartMy Website collects the sign-ups. Sending campaigns is done in SmartMy Marketing.Do sign-ups get a confirmation email?
With SmartMy Marketing, yes: they get a link to confirm, and the email opt-in is recorded only when they click it. Without it, they see your thank-you message only.Related features
