Sign-ups straight into SmartMy Marketing

With SmartMy Marketing, every newsletter or pop-up sign-up becomes a Marketing contact tagged Website sign-up, in a ready segment. The person confirms by email, and the consent is recorded with its proof.
PLANSEvery plan

The problem it solves

  • Newsletter sign-ups sit in a list nobody exports, so nobody ever gets a newsletter.
  • Someone downloads the list once a month and imports it into the mailing tool, with mistakes.
  • When a customer asks why they get your emails, you cannot show when and where they agreed.

How it works

  1. Add a Newsletter section or a Pop-up asking for an email to your site, and publish.
  2. A visitor signs up. The entry is kept under Website > Form Entries as usual.
  3. With SmartMy Marketing, SmartMy finds the contact by email, or makes one in the site's Entity, and adds the tag Website sign-up.
  4. The person gets an email with a link to confirm. The email opt-in is recorded when they click it, with its proof.
  5. The first sign-up makes the segment "Website sign-ups: <site name>". Send a broadcast to it, or start a journey that welcomes each new member.

Everything it does

What becomes a contact

  • Newsletter and pop-up sign-ups that give an email
  • Other forms stay form entries (with CRM they can become sales leads)
  • The contact's name comes from the form when given, else the email

Consent

  • An email opt-in, source Form, recorded when the person clicks the link in the confirmation email. The link works for 7 days
  • The proof: "Signed up on <site> with <form> (<page>) on <time>; confirmed by the link emailed on <time>"
  • Until they confirm, they are in the segment but campaigns do not go to them. Clicking the link again changes nothing
  • Recorded in the site's Entity and shown with the contact's consents in SmartMy Marketing
  • Each Marketing email still carries an unsubscribe link

The segment

  • Made once per site, with one rule: has the tag Website sign-up
  • It holds every contact with that tag, so with two sites both segments hold the sign-ups of both

Who uses it

Where you use it

  • The published site: Newsletter sections and pop-ups
  • Web: Website > Form Entries for each sign-up; SmartMy Marketing for the contact, its consent and the segment
  • Not WhatsApp or SMS consent: a sign-up gives email consent only

What you control

Settings

  • Newsletter and pop-up: optional name, the email box, button words and thank-you message
  • Nothing to switch on: the link starts when SmartMy Marketing (Growth or Scale) is in the same account

Questions

Can we prove someone agreed to our emails?

Yes. The opt-in shows the site, the form, the page, when they signed up and when they confirmed by email, on the contact in SmartMy Marketing.

Do sign-ups get WhatsApp messages too?

No. A website sign-up gives email consent only. WhatsApp needs its own opt-in.

We have two websites. Are their lists apart?

Not yet. Both use the tag Website sign-up, so each site's segment holds the sign-ups of both.

Do contact form entries go to Marketing as well?

No. Only newsletter and pop-up sign-ups do. Contact forms can make CRM leads instead.

Do we need SmartMy Marketing for a newsletter section?

No. Without it, sign-ups are kept as form entries in SmartMy Website, and the people who follow the site are told.
