Visitor stats without cookies

See visitors, page views, top pages, sources, devices and form sign-ups. SmartMy counts them itself, with no cookie and no tracking company, so they need no cookie notice.

Why it matters

A small business wants to know whether anyone visits the site, which pages they read and where they came from. The usual answer is an analytics script from an ad company. It drops cookies, needs a cookie notice, and loses every visitor who says no. SmartMy Website counts visits on its own server instead: no cookie, nothing kept in the browser, and no IP address stored. The numbers are in the editor the day the site goes live, with nothing to sign up for. They include visits sent by AI assistants.

The problem it solves

  • You have no idea whether anyone looks at the site you paid for.
  • Adding an analytics tool means a cookie notice, and many visitors press No, so the numbers are low.
  • You run an Instagram post and cannot tell if it sent anyone to the site.
  • The analytics account was opened by an agency that left, and nobody has the password.
  • Your agency sends a monthly report you cannot check yourself.

How it works

  1. Publish the site. Visits are counted from that moment, with nothing to set up.
  2. Open the editor and press Visitors in the top bar.
  3. Choose 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or Year. Visitors, Page views and Form sign-ups show against the period before, with page views per day.
  4. Read the most viewed pages, where visitors came from, their devices, their countries and the forms they sent.
  5. Add ?utm_source=instagram to links you share, and that source shows by its own name.

Everything it does

Numbers

  • Visitors, Page views and Form sign-ups for the period, each against the period before
  • Page views and visitors per day, as a chart
  • Pages: the 10 most viewed
  • Where visitors came from: the top 10. Examples are Google, Bing, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, YouTube, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, other sites by name, or Direct
  • Devices: computer, phone or tablet, from the screen width
  • Countries: the top 10, shown once the site runs behind SmartMy's network
  • Forms sent: by form, the top 10

How visits are counted

  • Each page view sends one small message to SmartMy's server; no cookie and nothing is kept in the browser
  • A visitor is recognised for one day only, by a coded mark that changes every day; the IP address is not stored
  • A person who comes back on another day counts again as a visitor
  • Robots, crawlers and link previews are not counted; your own views in the editor are not counted
  • A utm_source in the link wins over the referring site

Periods

  • 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or a year
  • Numbers are worked out again at most every two minutes

What you can learn from it

  • Whether a post or an ad brought visitors: share links with ?utm_source=<name> and compare that source week by week
  • Which pages people read and which they skip, to decide what to put on the home page
  • Whether visitors use phones more than computers, before you change the layout
  • Whether sign-ups rose after you added a pop-up or changed a form
  • Whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT already send people to you

Where you use it

  • Web: the editor, Visitors in the top bar, once the site is published
  • Not in the back-office menus and not as a download: the numbers are read in the editor
  • Not a record of each visitor's path through the site: for that, add Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity after cookie consent

What you control

Settings

  • Nothing to set: counting starts when the site is published

Questions

Do I need a cookie notice for these stats?

Not for these numbers: they use no cookie and keep nothing in the visitor's browser. Other tools you add, such as Google Analytics, still need it.

Why are the numbers different from Google Analytics?

Google Analytics counts only visitors who accept cookies, and counts a person across days. These stats count every visit and recognise a visitor for one day only.

Can I see which person visited?

No. The stats are counts. No name, IP address or cookie is kept for a visit.

Can I see visits from ChatGPT or other AI assistants?

Yes. Visits that came from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude or Gemini are named under Where visitors came from.

Why are countries empty?

Countries come from SmartMy's network in front of the site. They show once your site runs behind it.

Are the stats kept for each site separately?

Yes. Each published site has its own numbers, opened from its editor.
