Chat and WhatsApp button

A floating button on every page lets visitors reach you the way they already talk. It opens WhatsApp with a first message filled in, a call, Messenger, Telegram or email. One setting in the Site tab, and the chat happens in that app, on your phone.

The problem it solves

  • Visitors want to ask one quick question, not fill in a form and wait.
  • Your WhatsApp number is buried in the footer, and people copy it wrong.
  • Messages arrive saying only Hi, so you have to ask which page or product they mean.
  • Chat widgets from other companies slow the site and ask visitors for cookies.

How it works

  1. Open the editor's Site tab > Chat button.
  2. Choose the kind: WhatsApp, Call us, Facebook Messenger, Telegram or Email.
  3. Type the number with country code, the Messenger page name, the Telegram user name, or the email address.
  4. For WhatsApp, type a first message, such as Hello, I have a question about a cake order. It is filled in for the visitor.
  5. Add words next to the button if you want them, such as Chat with us, or leave it as an icon. Publish, and the button shows on every page.

Everything it does

Kinds of button

  • WhatsApp: opens WhatsApp on the phone or WhatsApp Web, to your number, with your first message filled in
  • Call us: starts a phone call to your number
  • Facebook Messenger: opens a chat with your page
  • Telegram: opens a chat with your user name
  • Email: opens the visitor's email app with your address

Settings

  • Chat button on every page: None, WhatsApp, Call us, Facebook Messenger, Telegram or Email
  • Number, page name or email: the number with country code (for example +1 415 555 0123), the page name, or the Telegram user name
  • First message (WhatsApp): up to 300 characters, filled in for the visitor
  • Words next to the button: empty shows the icon alone
  • A number, name or address that cannot be used leaves the button off rather than showing a broken one

On the site

  • One floating button, on every page of the site, on phones and computers
  • No outside chat script is loaded and no cookie is set by the button
  • The WhatsApp number in Social links is separate and shows with your other social links
