Sell your own courses: shop, coupons and online payment

Training firms and coaching centres put published courses in a public shop with a price. Buyers pay online through your own payment provider, get a login and are enrolled at once.
PLANSFrom Growth

The problem it solves

  • You take payments on a link, then make each buyer's login and enrolment by hand.
  • Discounts are agreed on calls and nobody knows how many were used.
  • You cannot tell which course sells in which month.

How it works

  1. A Learn Manager switches on Sell Courses to Outside Learners in Learn > Manage Courses > Configuration > Settings. They write the Terms shown before buying (refunds, access, contact).
  2. Switch on a payment provider for the Entity, the same set-up as online fees: Razorpay, Stripe and others. Without one, orders wait and you record the payment by hand.
  3. On a published course, tab Selling: In the Shop and the Price. A price of 0 makes it free to anyone who signs up.
  4. Share the shop at /learn/shop. The buyer sees the course page (about, lessons, price, terms), gives a name, email and phone, adds a coupon and pays.
  5. Once paid, the buyer's login is found by email or made, with an email to set the password. They are enrolled, and the order page opens the course.

Everything it does

The shop

  • Public pages at /learn/shop: published courses that are In the Shop, of Entities that sell
  • The price always comes from the course, never from the buyer's browser
  • Free courses and 100 % coupons are confirmed at once

Coupons

  • Learn > Manage Courses > Selling > Coupons: a code, Percent Off (10 % to start with) or Amount Off
  • Courses (empty: every course in the shop), Valid Until, Uses Allowed (0: no limit), Used
  • One code per Entity

Orders

  • Status: Waiting Payment, Paid, Cancelled; Paid By: Online, Recorded by Hand, Free
  • Buyer, email, phone, price, discount, to pay, payment reference, the learner's login and enrolment
  • Record Payment for a bank transfer or cash; Cancel an order never paid
  • Learn > Manage Courses > Reporting > Learners and Courses > Course Sales: paid orders by course and month, pivot and graph

Where you use it

  • Web: the public shop at /learn/shop and its order pages
  • Web: Learn > Manage Courses > Selling > Orders, Coupons, Open the Shop; Reporting > Learners and Courses > Course Sales
  • The SmartMy Learn app: buyers learn there once enrolled; buying is on the web (built and in testing, not in the app stores yet)

What you control

Settings

  • Sell Courses to Outside Learners: off to start with, per Entity
  • Terms Shown Before Buying: empty

Notifications

  • Course Bought: to the buyer when the order is paid, in the app inbox and by email; Course Assigned follows as for any enrolment

Questions

Does SmartMy take a share of course sales?

No. Payments go through your own payment provider into your own account.

Can we sell without an online payment provider?

Yes. Orders wait for payment and a Learn Manager presses Record Payment after a bank transfer or cash. The buyer is enrolled then.

What if the buyer already has a login?

The login with that email is used and the course is added to it.

Can coupons be limited to some courses?

Yes. Choose the courses on the coupon, a Valid Until date and how many uses are allowed.
