Notifications

Learners hear when a course is assigned, due soon, overdue or finished, when work is marked and when a certificate is issued. Teachers hear about work to mark, questions and join requests. Every Learn message goes by email and to the in-app inbox.
PLANSEvery plan

The problem it solves

  • Learners find out about a mandatory course after its due date.
  • Teachers do not know a quiz is waiting to be marked until a learner complains.
  • A certificate expires and nobody renews it.

How it works

  1. Something happens in Learn: an enrolment, a due date, a hand-in, a mark, a certificate, a question.
  2. The event finds its people: the learner, the course's author and editors, or with SmartMy HRMS the reporting manager.
  3. The message goes to their in-app inbox (web and the SmartMy Learn app) and by email.
  4. Every message leaves a line in the Delivery Log, with the reason when it could not be sent, such as no email address.
  5. An administrator switches an event off for everyone or for one Entity, and edits its wording.

Everything it does

To learners (every plan)

  • Course Assigned, Course Due Soon (3 days before), Course Overdue, Course Finished
  • Join Request Refused
  • Certificate Issued, Certificate Expiring Soon, Certificate Expired
  • Quiz Marked (teacher-marked quizzes)

To learners (Growth and above)

  • Assignment Marked, Assignment Returned
  • Live Class Soon, before a live class
  • New Answer, to the person who asked
  • Learning Path Finished
  • Course Bought, to a buyer in the shop

To teachers and managers

  • Join Request, Quiz to Mark, Assignment Handed In, New Question (Growth): to the course's author and editors
  • Team Course Overdue: to the reporting manager, with SmartMy HRMS
  • Learn Automation (Scale): to the learner or the authors, as the rule says

Delivery and choices

  • All Learn events are work messages: they go out at once, at any hour
  • Channels in code: email and the in-app inbox for every Learn event; no Learn event has SMS, WhatsApp or push yet
  • Nobody can switch off a Learn event or its email for themselves. A person's opt-out counts only for informational events, and every Learn event is a work message
