Rights earned with points
Asking and answering in discussions and community spaces can need a number of points first, so new accounts cannot flood a forum. Today these two rights are the ones that take effect.
PLANSScale only
The problem it solves
- A new account posts the same advert in every discussion.
- In a large academy, anyone can answer on day one, before they know the course.
- You want people to read and finish lessons before they start posting.
How it works
- A Learn Manager opens Learn > Manage Courses > Configuration > Points and Badges > Rights by Points.
- Set the points needed for Ask Questions and for Answer. Both start at 0, so everyone can post.
- A learner without enough points cannot post in a lesson discussion or a space. The message says "You need more points to do this".
- Learners earn the points by finishing lessons, courses and quizzes (points per action).
- Learn Authors and Learn Managers are never held back by points.
Everything it does
Rights in the list
- Ask Questions: 0 points to start with; used for topics and questions
- Answer: 0 points to start with; used for answers
- Create a Community Space: 200 points to start with; listed but not used by the code yet
- Publish a Course Without Review: 1,000 points to start with; listed but not used by the code yet
How it is checked
- The learner's total points in the current Entity against the right's points
- A right of 0, or points switched off for the Entity, means no check
- A right can be set for one Entity, or for every Entity without its own
Who uses it
