Outside tools by LTI 1.3, with scores back
Add any LTI 1.3 tool, such as a coding lab, a science simulator or a publisher's content, as a lesson. Learners open it signed in, and the scores the tool sends back finish the lesson.

The problem it solves
- Learners need a separate login for each tool a course uses, and forget them.
- Scores from an outside lab are typed into the gradebook by hand.
- Teachers copy links to content inside a tool and get them wrong.
How it works
- A Learn Manager registers the tool once under Learn > Manage Courses > Configuration > Outside Tools > LTI Tools. They enter its login initiation URL, launch URL and key set URL. The form shows what to enter at the tool: issuer, client ID, deployment ID and the platform's addresses.
- An author adds a lesson of kind Outside Tool (LTI). They choose the tool, an address for this lesson if needed, and Score to Pass.
- Choose in the Tool lets the author pick the content inside the tool, for tools that offer it.
- Learners open the lesson and are signed in at the tool as themselves, with the course and the lesson.
- Scores the tool sends back are kept under Learn > Manage Courses > Reporting > Packages and Tools > Tool Scores. They finish the lesson when the activity is completed and graded.
