Import the catalogue and open quotes
If your firm runs today on an Odoo-based system, SmartMy Interiors connects to it with a login and API key. It brings over your catalogue as box types and rate items, and your open quotations as draft estimates. Run it again and what was brought before is updated, not doubled.
PLANSEvery plan
The problem it solves
- Hundreds of modular products, their finishes and prices have to be typed again before the first quote.
- Quotes already sent to clients are stuck in the old system, so the team works in two places for months.
- A one-time copy goes stale while you are still testing, and copying again makes duplicates.
How it works
- An administrator opens Interiors > Projects > Configuration > General > Import from a Previous System and presses New.
- Fill in the connection: a name, the Address (https://...), Database, Login and an API key. Make the key in the other system under Preferences > Account Security.
- Say what to bring: the categories that are boxes (Modular, Semi Modular, Woodworks to start with) and the categories that are services. Also months of open quotes (6).
- Give the names of the length, width and height fields on their quote lines and their unit (ft, inch or mm).
- Press Test the Connection. The history shows how many products and open quotes it found, or why it could not connect.
- Press Bring the Catalogue, then Bring the Open Quotes. What Happened shows what was made, updated or left alone. Brought Over lists every record with its id in the other system.
- Check the box types and rates: set their allowed sizes, materials and margins before you quote from them.
Everything it does
Which systems it reads
- Odoo-based systems, read over their standard web interface (XML-RPC) with a login and an API key or password
- It reads product categories, products with their unit and sales price, and product variant values and their extra price. It also reads quotations in draft or sent with their lines
- Other software, such as Tally, a spreadsheet or another quoting tool, is not read by this import
The catalogue
- Products in the box categories become box types in simple rate mode, with the sales price as the base rate
- Their unit sets how the box is priced: per area of front (sq ft, m² and similar), per running length, or per piece
- Each variant value (for example a finish) becomes an option with its extra price; values switched off there are skipped
- Products in the service categories become rate items of the rate library, with their unit and price
- Each rate item lands in a section by its words: civil, ceiling, electrical, paint, plumbing, flooring, furniture, decor, otherwise services
- Category words match parts of names, comma separated
Open quotes
- Each quotation in draft or sent, from the last months you set, becomes a draft estimate
- The client is found by email or phone, or made
- Sections and notes, lines with their quantity, unit and price (discount taken off the price) come over as they were
- Lines of a box product become box lines with their options and the sizes from the fields you named. Lines of a service become rate lines; others stay as plain lines
- Each estimate notes which quotation it was brought from
- If a size field you named is not on their quote lines, the sizes are left empty and the log says so
Running it again
- Box types, options and rate items brought before are updated, not doubled
- An estimate still in draft is replaced with the quotation as it is now
- An estimate you have already sent or moved on is left alone
- Only administrators see the connection and the key

Questions
Can we import from Excel?
Not for Interiors yet. This import reads an Odoo-based system directly. If your catalogue is in a spreadsheet, talk to us before you start. Will it bring our sent invoices and payments?
No. It brings the catalogue and open quotations only. Orders, invoices, payments and finished projects stay in the old system. What if we change a price in the old system during testing?
Run Bring the Catalogue again. The box types and rate items it brought before are updated with the new price.Does the old system change?
No. The import only reads from it.Which plan has it?
