Chain
Single sign-on on the web and in the staff app
Garage staff sign in with their company account, from Microsoft, Google or another OpenID Connect provider, on the web and in the SmartMy Garage app. An administrator adds the provider, people are matched to their users, and an Entity can close password sign-in for its staff.
PlansEnterprise only
The problem it solves
- Staff of twenty branches each keep another password, and the help desk resets them every week.
- Someone leaves the group, and their garage login still works.
How it works
- 01
Your IT team prepares an app with your provider: Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace or another OpenID Connect provider.
- 02
An administrator adds the provider in SmartMy, with the details your IT team gives.
- 03
Choose how people are matched: by email or login, or linked accounts only. Nobody gets in just because they are in your directory: they need a user in SmartMy Garage.
- 04
Staff choose Sign in with ... on the web sign-in page, or in the app; the provider's page opens in the phone's browser and brings them back signed in.
- 05
When it works for everyone, tick Single Sign-On Only on the Entity. Administrators keep their password.
Everything it does
Providers
- Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, or another OpenID Connect provider
- Sign-in with a one-time code and PKCE
- Several providers can be offered
Matching people
- Email / login: found by the work account's email at the first sign-in, then linked
- Linked account only: only users already linked can sign in
- The link is shown on the user's Single Sign-On tab
Closing passwords
- Single Sign-On Only per Entity
- Applies to staff already linked; administrators keep their password; portal customers are not affected
In the app
- Sign in with ... on the app's sign-in screen when the server has providers
- The provider's page opens in the system browser and returns to the app
- The session works like a password session, including the app's work without signal
Log
- Sign-ins, refused sign-ins and linked accounts are kept in the sign-in log
Who uses it
Where you use it
- Web: the sign-in page; providers set up by an administrator
- The SmartMy Garage app: Sign in with ... on the sign-in screen (built and in testing, not in the app stores yet)
- Not for customers: the customer's job page uses its private link or their own sign-in
- Not in SmartMy Garage: directory sync that switches off users removed from your directory
What you control
Settings
- Per provider: kind (Microsoft to start with), match by email or linked account
- Per Entity: Single Sign-On Only, off
FAQ
Questions, answered.
Which providers work?
Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace and any provider that supports OpenID Connect.
Does it work in the phone app?
Yes. The app shows Sign in with ... when providers are set up. The app is built and in testing, not in the app stores yet.
Can we turn off passwords?
Yes, per Entity, once staff are linked. Administrators keep their password so somebody can always get in. Set it up together with SmartMy support, and keep password sign-in open until it works for your organisation.
Do we need Enterprise?
It comes with Enterprise. On the other plans it is an add-on.

Connections to your website and other systemsEnterprise only
Connect your website, a fleet customer's portal or another tool to SmartMy Garage. Each connection has its own key, its branches and what it may do: read job cards, vehicles, customers and invoices, create appointments and enquiries. Job card events are sent to it as signed messages, with retries.
The staff app for phones and tabletsEvery plan
The SmartMy Garage app puts the job card in your team's hands at the car. Check in with the camera, mark damage on a car outline, scan the VIN, run tasks with timers, invoice and deliver. It runs on Android and iPhone, phones and tablets.
Several branches (entities) in one accountEvery plan
Run every workshop of your business in one SmartMy Garage account. Each branch is an Entity with its own numbering, settings, stock and books. Staff work only in their branches, and the owner sees them together.
Head office scorecards across branchesEnterprise only
Head office sees one scorecard per branch and month. It shows job cards, revenue split into labour and parts, average repair order, labour efficiency, comeback rate and approval rate. Compare branches for any dates with a group total, follow the trends, and give head office staff a role that only reads.
Want to see it on your own job cards? Book a demo and we walk you through it with your workshop's work.
