Deals with a countdown

Put a product on a percentage-off deal between two times. While it runs, the site shows the deal price, the price before and a countdown, and checkout charges the same. Afterwards the normal price is back by itself.
PLANSFrom Growth

The problem it solves

  • A weekend sale is set up on Friday night and someone forgets to put the prices back on Monday.
  • The banner says 20 % off but the cart charges the full price.
  • Buyers see no reason to order today rather than next week.
  • Changing the price itself for a sale also changes it in every other channel.

How it works

  1. Open the product, Online Shop tab, and fill Deal Discount (%), Deal Starts (optional) and Deal Ends (needed).
  2. Before the start nothing changes. When the deal starts, the site shows the lower price, the normal price struck through, a Limited time deal flag and a countdown.
  3. Every 15 minutes SmartMy sends again the shops whose deals started or ended, so lists and feeds stay right.
  4. At checkout the same percentage comes off the order line, on top of any bulk price.
  5. When the deal ends, the product page and checkout go back to the normal price without anyone touching it.

Everything it does

A deal

  • Deal Discount (%): more than 0 and less than 100
  • Deal Starts: empty means at once
  • Deal Ends: needed, and after the start
  • Applies to every option of the product
  • One deal at a time per product

On the site

  • The deal price on cards and the product page, with the normal price as price before
  • Limited time deal flag and a countdown to the end
  • Counts as On sale for the shop's On sale filter
  • The site checks the start and end itself on every page, so a deal never shows after it ended

At checkout

  • The same percentage is a discount on the order line
  • It adds to a buy more, pay less step, and a percentage code comes off on top
  • The product's own sale price is never changed

Questions

Do I need to change the price back after the sale?

No. The product's own price is never changed. The deal applies only between its start and end.

Can I schedule a deal for next week?

Yes. Set Deal Starts in the future. The site shows nothing until then and the shop is sent again within 15 minutes of the start.

Can I put a whole category on sale at once?

Not in one step. Set the deal on each product, or give buyers a percentage discount code for the whole order instead.

Does a deal add up with a discount code?

Yes. A percentage code comes off the deal price.
