Compare products and a size guide

Buyers tick Compare on two to four products and see them side by side: price, rating, stock, options and every detail you gave. A size guide table on the product page answers "which size am I" before they ask.
PLANSFrom Growth

The problem it solves

  • Buyers open three tabs to compare two mixers and still ask you which is better.
  • Clothes come back because the size was a guess.
  • Details such as weight or material are buried in long descriptions and hard to compare.
  • The size chart is a picture that nobody can read on a phone.

How it works

  1. On each product, Online Shop tab, write Details one per line as Name: value, for example Weight: 500 g.
  2. For clothing or shoes, fill the Size Guide: one row per line, cells split by |, with the first row as the heading.
  3. On product cards buyers tick Compare; a bar at the bottom counts up to four and opens the comparison.
  4. The /compare page shows the products side by side, with Add to cart or See it under each.
  5. On the product page a Size guide button next to the options opens the table.

Everything it does

Compare

  • Two to four products; a fifth is refused with a message
  • Rows: price and price before, rating and count, in stock, each option (sizes, colours) and each detail any of them has
  • A dash where a product has no value for a row
  • Take one out with its cross, or Clear the whole list
  • Add to cart straight from the table for products with a single option
  • The list is kept in the buyer's browser and the page can be shared by its link

Details

  • One per line as Name: value; shown as a table on the product page
  • The same names line up across products on the compare page, so use the same words (Weight, Material)

Size guide

  • A table typed as text: Size | Chest (cm) | Length (cm), then S | 92 | 68 and so on
  • The first row is the heading and the first cell of each row its label
  • Up to 30 rows
  • Opens in a window from the Size guide button next to the options; readable on a phone

Questions

Can one size guide serve all our shirts?

Not as a shared table. Each product has its own Size Guide; paste the same table into each shirt.

Where does the compare page get its rows?

From the products' options and their Details lines. Use the same detail names across products so they line up.

Can buyers compare on a phone?

Yes. The table scrolls sideways on a small screen, and the compare bar sits at the bottom.
