A web chat bubble for your website

One line of script puts a chat bubble on your website. Visitors write from any page, the chat lands in the same inbox as WhatsApp and Instagram, and your team's replies appear in the bubble.
PLANSEvery plan

The problem it solves

  • Visitors leave the website because nobody answers the contact form for a day.
  • A separate chat tool means one more login and one more place to miss messages.
  • Chats from the website never reach the person handling the same customer on WhatsApp.

How it works

  1. A Marketing Administrator opens Marketing > Configuration > Channels > Web Chats and presses New.
  2. Under The Bubble, set the Title (Chat with us), the Greeting (a short hello asking how you can help, ready to change) and the Colour.
  3. Under Where, list the Allowed Websites, comma separated, such as example.com, shop.example.com. Empty means any website.
  4. Save and copy Put This on Your Website, a single script line, into every page of your site.
  5. A visitor writes in the bubble. The message opens a conversation in Marketing > Inbox, with a new contact for that visitor.
  6. Someone in your team, the AI agent or a chatbot replies in the inbox. The answer shows in the visitor's bubble within a few seconds.

Everything it does

The bubble

  • Title, Greeting and Colour. The title starts as Chat with us, the greeting as a short hello asking how you can help, the colour as blue (#2563eb)
  • Several web chats per Entity, for example one per website or brand
  • Text messages up to 2,000 characters each
  • The bubble asks the server for new replies every 4 seconds while it is open
  • The visitor is remembered in that browser, so coming back later shows the same conversation

In the inbox

  • Each visitor becomes a conversation on the Web Chat channel, with a contact made for them
  • Assign, tag, add notes and close it as any other chat
  • No 24-hour window: you can always reply while the visitor is on the site
  • With the AI agent or a chatbot (Growth), the visitor can be answered by itself

Where it may appear

  • Allowed Websites keeps the bubble to your own domains and their sub-domains
  • No Odoo Website app is needed; any website that accepts a script line works

Who uses it

Marketing AdministratorMakes the web chat, sets its look and allowed websites, and puts the script on the site.
Marketing UserAnswers web chats in the inbox.
Website visitorWrites in the bubble and reads the replies.

Where you use it

  • Your website: the bubble
  • Web: Marketing > Configuration > Channels > Web Chats, and Marketing > Inbox
  • Not in the phone app: this is done on the web. The SmartMy Marketing app covers chats, contacts, posts, leads and campaigns
  • Not for files: visitors and your team exchange text in the web chat
  • Not as an email form when nobody is online: the chat stays in the inbox until someone answers

What you control

Settings

  • Title: Chat with us
  • Greeting: a short hello asking how you can help
  • Colour: #2563eb
  • Allowed Websites: empty, which means any website

Notifications

  • No separate alert for a new web chat; the inbox refreshes every 8 seconds and shows the unread count

Questions

Do we need a SmartMy Website for this?

No. The script works on any website. Copy Put This on Your Website into every page.

Does the visitor need to give a name or email?

No. They just write. Their chat becomes a contact you can fill in later from the inbox.

Can the AI answer web chats at night?

Yes, with the AI agent answering by itself or a chatbot, both in Growth. On Starter the AI suggests replies for a person to send.

Can someone put our bubble on another website?

Fill in Allowed Websites with your domains. The bubble then works only on those websites and their sub-domains.

Can visitors send pictures?

Not in the web chat. Ask them to share on WhatsApp if you need a photo.
