The SmartMy Manufacturing app
An Android and iOS app for supervisors, quality inspectors and maintenance technicians. It has today's figures, production orders, machines and jobs, andon calls, quality checks and repairs. Each is shown to the people whose role allows it. Operators keep working on the terminal.
PLANSFrom Growth
Built and in testing, not in the app stores yet.
The problem it solves
- The supervisor walks to the office to see which orders are late and which machines are down.
- An inspector writes results on paper at the machine and types them in at the end of the shift.
- A technician learns about a repair from a phone call, and the checklist stays in a file.
- An andon call waits because the person it needs is on the other side of the plant.
How it works
- Your people sign in with their SmartMy login (or a passkey) and the server address. The app shows only what their roles allow.
- Managers, planners and supervisors open on Today. It shows orders open and late, jobs running, machines stopped, good and rejected pieces today, andon calls and checks waiting, repairs open.
- Supervisors open Jobs to stop or restart a machine and to start, count, pause and finish a job for the operators they choose. They open Orders to see an order's steps and whether its material is ready or short.
- Quality inspectors open on Quality Checks: they mark each line OK or Not OK, type measurements, enter defective pieces, and press Done or Fail.
- Technicians open on Repairs: they tick the checklist, add a note and press Done. Supervisors and technicians answer andon calls with I am on it, and close them with what was done.
Everything it does
Screens, by role
- Today (on the phone only): the floor's figures for the day, each part shown to the roles it belongs to
- Shop Floor > Terminal (Jobs): machines with Stop (with a reason) and Restart. Jobs with Start, Pause, Good, Reject (with the reason, then Scrap or Rework) and Done. How to do it and the material for the step. For supervisors and above
- Shop Floor > Andon Board: calls Waiting and Being handled; I am on it; Close with What was done. For supervisors and maintenance technicians
- Operations > Manufacturing Orders: open orders, late first, search by order or item; an order shows Made, Steps and Material (Ready or Short). For supervisors and above
- Quality Checks: checks to do, pieces to check, defects allowed, OK / Not OK, Measured, Note, defective pieces, Done or Fail. For quality inspectors
- Repairs: open requests, Breakdown or Planned, with the checklist; Save or Done. For maintenance technicians
What each plan shows
- Starter: Today (orders open and late) and Manufacturing Orders, for supervisors and above
- Growth: adds Jobs, Andon Board, Quality Checks, Repairs and the rest of Today
- Scale: also Find an asset, Asset checks and Given out for the Asset Incharge, and With me for any staff member given an asset
- Any plan: My approvals, for anything waiting for that person's decision, hidden when nothing waits
How it behaves
- The Menu, not tabs: the web's Manufacturing areas, with Quality Checks and Repairs on the first level
- Each action is sent with its own reference, so a retry on a weak signal is not counted twice
- Needs a connection: there is no offline mode
- Records land in the person's own Entity first
- A tap on an andon call or maintenance request notice opens its screen
What it does not do
- Operators do not use the app: they use the shop floor terminal on a tablet's browser, with a badge or PIN
- No barcode scanning of jobs or bundles in this app (the terminal scans bundles)
- Push notices are built in and not switched on yet
Who uses it
SupervisorWatches today's figures, runs jobs and machines for the operators, follows orders and answers andon calls.
Production Manager or PlannerOpens on Today and follows late orders and stopped machines.
Quality InspectorDoes in-process and incoming checks at the machine or the gate.
Maintenance TechnicianWorks through repairs with their checklist and answers maintenance andon calls.
Where you use it
- The SmartMy Manufacturing app for Android and iOS: built and in testing, not in the app stores yet
- Web: everything in the app is also in the back office
- Not for operators: they use the shop floor terminal, a web page on a tablet
What you control
Settings
- What a person sees follows their roles: Supervisor, Planner, Production Manager, Maintenance Technician, Quality Inspector
- Signing in with a passkey works where your account has one
Notifications
- Andon Call and Maintenance Request: arrive in the in-app inbox and by email. A tap opens the Andon Board or Repairs (app push built in, not switched on yet)
Questions
Is the app in the Play Store or App Store?
Not yet. It is built and being tested on our side; it is not in the app stores yet.Do operators need the app?
No. Operators work on the shop floor terminal, a web page on a tablet at the machine, signed in with their badge or PIN.What does a Starter user see?
Today with orders open and late, and the list of production orders with their steps and material. Jobs, andon, quality checks and repairs come with Growth.Does it work without signal?
No. The app needs a connection. A retried action is not counted twice, but nothing is kept to send later. Can an inspector fail a check from the phone?
Yes. Fail marks the check failed, and the non-conformance and hold follow as on the web.Related features
SHOP FLOORThe shop floor terminal: a tablet at each machineA tablet at each machine or station shows its jobs in big tiles. Operators sign in with a PIN or badge, and start and pause jobs. They count good and rejected pieces with a reason, and stop the machine with a reason. Every count goes straight into the order.SHOP FLOORAndon: calls for help and the andon boardAn operator presses Call on the terminal and picks who is needed: a supervisor, maintenance, quality or material. The people of that kind are told at once. The andon board shows every call waiting and being handled, with the minutes it waited and took to fix.PLANNING, QUALITY AND COSTQuality checks with sampling (AQL), held lots and non-conformanceCheck material as it comes in, each step on the floor, the finished product and goods going out. Each check has a sheet and a sample worked out from the lot. A failed check holds the lot, raises a non-conformance whose decision is approved, and a Rework decision makes the rework order.PLANNING, QUALITY AND COSTBreakdowns raised from the floor, spares and technician time costedWhen an operator stops a machine at the terminal for a breakdown reason, a repair request opens for that machine at once. The maintenance team is told. The stop time and the repair sit on one record, and the repair is costed in spares and technician time.PLANNING, QUALITY AND COSTPreventive maintenance by days, hours or cyclesEach machine gets maintenance plans that fall due by the calendar, by its running hours or by the pieces it has made. A due plan raises a maintenance request with its checklist and spares, and closing the request costs it and moves the plan on.PRODUCTION AND JOB WORKRoles for your team, and operators with a PIN or badgeGive each person in the office a role that shows them only their part of production. List your shop floor operators with a badge code and a PIN: they work on the tablet terminal without a login of their own.
See your shop floor on it.
Tell us what you make, how many machines and people you run, and how production is recorded today. We will set up a line with you and run a job on the terminal.
