Cartons and packing lists
Pack a style order into cartons by a size ratio, colour by colour, from what is cut and not yet packed. Packed adds the pieces to the style order, and the packing list prints with every carton, its sizes and weights.
PLANSFrom Growth
The problem it solves
- The packing list for the buyer is typed in a spreadsheet, carton by carton, the night before shipment.
- Nobody can say how many pieces of each colour and size are packed against the order.
- Carton weights and sizes for the forwarder are found by opening boxes again.
How it works
- On a style order in Cutting, Sewing or Packing, press Pack. A new packing list opens for it.
- Press Fill Cartons: give the sizes in order and the pieces per carton by size (2, 4, 4, 2 makes 12 a carton). Add net kg, gross kg and the carton size.
- Full cartons are made colour by colour from what is cut and not yet packed. Add or change cartons by hand for odd quantities.
- Press Packed. The pieces of each carton are added to the style order's packed count by colour and size.
- When every colour and size is packed, the style order moves to Packing. Print the packing list for the buyer and the forwarder.
Everything it does
Packing lists
- Numbered PL/year/0001, one style order each; a style order can have several
- Totals: number of cartons, pieces, gross kg and net kg
- Stages: Draft and Packed; Packed refuses a list with no cartons
Cartons
- Carton No., colour and sizes (written like S 2 / M 4 / L 4 / XL 2). Pieces, gross kg, net kg, L x W x H in cm
- Fill Cartons numbers on from the last carton on the list
- Only full cartons of the ratio are made; it tells you when there are not enough pieces for one
- Pieces left over are packed by adding a carton by hand
- Pieces available: cut pieces less packed ones, or ordered pieces when nothing is cut yet
The packing list PDF
- Buyer, buyer PO, style and style number
- Per carton: number, colour, sizes, pieces, net kg, gross kg, size in cm
- Totals of cartons, pieces and weights
What it does not do
- It does not move stock or make the delivery: deliver from the sales order as usual
- Carton labels and the buyer's own packing list formats are not built
