Counter sales
Counter price lists, pay later on account, cash limits, shift report and receipt printer
More for the counter: customers on a price list get their prices, and trusted customers buy on account within a credit limit. Cash moves have limits, each shift has its X and Z report, and a network receipt printer opens the drawer.
PlansFrom Growth
Built for network receipt printers; no printer model has been tested yet. Try your printer with us before the first day.
The problem it solves
- Fleet drivers and trade customers expect their agreed prices, and the cashier looks them up in a file.
- A regular mechanic buys parts on credit with no limit and no invoice.
- Nobody knows what the shift sold and how much cash should be in the drawer.
How it works
- 01
Give a customer their price list on the customer, and add that list to Customer Price Lists Honoured on the register. They get its prices and quantity breaks.
- 02
For pay later, add a Customer Account (pay later) method to the register. Tick May Pay Later at the Counter on the customer, and set a credit limit.
- 03
Set the cash limits of the register: Cash Move Without Approval and Cash Difference Without Approval.
- 04
During the shift, print the X report; at closing, the Z report.
- 05
Add a receipt printer on the register's Printers tab, with its network address, paper width and cash drawer.
Everything it does
Price lists
- A customer whose price list the register honours gets its prices and quantity breaks; everyone else the register's own price list
- The same rule at the counter on the web, in the app and in the back office
- A price list not listed on the register is ignored there
Pay later on account
- Only for customers ticked May Pay Later at the Counter, never the default customer
- A sale over the customer's credit limit is refused, and the message shows the limit
- The sale becomes an invoice on the customer's account
Cash limits and the shift report
- Cash Move Without Approval: 1,000 to start with; above it a supervisor approves
- Cash Difference Without Approval: 50 to start with
- Blind Cash Count: the cashier counts without seeing the expected cash
- X report while the session is open, Z report once it is closed, as PDFs
Receipt printer and cash drawer
- Network printers (LAN or Wi-Fi) by address and port, for example 192.168.1.50:9100
- Paper 58 mm (32 characters) or 80 mm (48 characters), and the number of copies
- Cash Drawer: opened with each sale, not for a refund or a receipt copy
- A printer set on the till wins over the register's
- On the web, receipts print through the browser to any printer of the computer
- Bluetooth and USB are listed but not used by the app today
Who uses it
Where you use it
- Web: the register's settings and the counter's sessions, with the X and Z reports
- The SmartMy Garage app: Counter > Counter Sales, with the receipt printer and the X report. Built and in testing, not in the app stores yet.
What you control
Settings
- Customer Price Lists Honoured: none
- Pay later: off until a Customer Account method is on the register and the customer is ticked
- Cash Move Without Approval: 1,000; Cash Difference Without Approval: 50; Blind Cash Count: off
- Printer: paper 58 or 80 mm, Cash Drawer, Copies
Approvals
- Counter approval: cash moves and cash differences above the limits, decided by a supervisor at the counter
FAQ
Questions, answered.
Which receipt printers work?
Network receipt printers that take a raw connection on a port such as 9100. No model has been tested by us yet, so we try yours with you before go-live.
Can a fleet customer buy on account at the counter?
Yes, when they are ticked May Pay Later at the Counter. A sale over their credit limit is refused.
Do we need a receipt printer?
No. On the web the receipt prints through the browser, and it can be sent as a PDF.
Can different customers get different prices?
Yes. Give the customer a price list and honour it on the register. Others pay the register's prices.
