Scroll films, made from your video or with AI

A film that plays forward and back as the visitor scrolls: a product turning, a camera moving through your hotel. Upload your own video, or have AI make a clip from a description or from a first and last picture.

Why it matters

The pages people remember move with them: a product turns as you scroll, a camera walks you into the room. Building that has meant a developer cutting a video into hundreds of pictures and writing the code to play them. In SmartMy Website you upload a video of up to 60 seconds. The server turns it into pictures for computers and phones that follow the scroll smoothly on every browser. You add words that appear on the way, labels and glass cards, and no coding is needed. Without a video, AI can make the clip from a description or from two of your own photos.

The problem it solves

  • Your product video sits in a player that nobody presses.
  • A launch page with scroll-driven video needs a developer and a week of work.
  • A video that plays on scroll stutters on phones, or does not play at all on some browsers.
  • You have photos of the product but no video to start from.

How it works

  1. Add a Scroll film section from + Add section > Scroll stories.
  2. In its film field, press Choose a film > Upload a video: MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 60 seconds and 80 MB. One slow, steady shot works best.
  3. The server turns it into pictures for computers and for phones. It shows Getting it ready, then Film chosen, usually within a couple of minutes.
  4. Or press Make a film with AI and describe the shot. Optionally pick a photo to start from and one to end on, and choose Wide or Tall.
  5. Add words that appear at chosen points of the film, glass cards with numbers, and labels pointing at parts of it.
  6. Choose how long the scroll takes, how much to darken the film behind the words and whether it fades into the next section. Publish.

Everything it does

Your video

  • MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 80 MB from the editor and 60 seconds long
  • Turned into up to 150 pictures for computers (up to 1,600 wide) and 90 for phones (up to 720 wide)
  • WebP pictures drawn on a canvas, so the film follows the scroll on every browser
  • A first picture shows before the film is ready and to visitors who turned motion off
  • A video lost by the server is sent again by itself when you publish

Made with AI

  • Describe the shot; optionally a photo of your site to start from and one to end on (JPEG, PNG or WebP, under 9 MB)
  • Wide for computers or Tall for phones
  • One clip of about 8 seconds, made in one to a few minutes while you keep editing
  • Uses a good share of your plan's AI credits

The section

  • Layouts: Film fills the screen, Title either side of the film, Film in a frame that grows
  • Lines that appear on the way: small line, title, text, from and until a % of the film, left, middle, right or bottom
  • Glass cards on the sides: a number or word and what it means
  • Labels pointing at the film, placed across and down, appearing at a % of the film
  • How long: Short (2 screens), Normal (3 screens, the default), Long (4.5 screens)
  • Darken behind the words: No, A little (default), More; Fade softly into the next section: on

Questions

What kind of video works best?

One slow, steady shot of one thing: a product turning, a camera moving through a room. Cuts and fast movement look jumpy when scrubbed by the scroll.

Will it play smoothly on phones?

Phones get their own smaller set of pictures, drawn on a canvas, so the film follows the scroll without loading a video.

Which plan has scroll films?

Uploading films and making them with AI come with Scale. The other scroll story sections are on every plan.

How long does an AI film take?

One to a few minutes for a clip of about 8 seconds. You can keep editing while it is made.

What do visitors with motion turned off see?

The still picture you choose, or the film's first picture, with the words.
