Schemes: free goods and slab discounts
Run free goods (buy 10, get 1) and quantity slab discounts by item, category, brand and party group, between two dates. They are put on the bill or sales order by themselves, marked with the scheme.
PLANSFrom Growth
Built; not yet tried end to end at a customer.
The problem it solves
- A 10 + 1 offer is given at one counter and forgotten at the other.
- Slab discounts are worked out by hand on a calculator, and every clerk gets a different answer.
- An offer that ended last week is still being given.
- Free goods leave the godown without a line on the bill, so stock and claims never match.
How it works
- Under Trade > Configuration > Items and Prices > Schemes, make a scheme: Free Goods or Slab Discount, with its From and To dates.
- Say what it applies to: items, categories, brands and party groups. Leave a box empty for all.
- For free goods, set Buy and Get Free, and the Free Item if it is not the same item. For a slab discount, add the slabs: from a quantity, a discount %.
- The clerk bills as usual. Apply Schemes on the bill or quotation shows the result, and posting the bill or confirming the order applies it again by itself.
- Free goods come as their own lines at 100 % discount; slab discounts set the line's discount. Each such line carries the scheme's name.
Everything it does
Free goods
- Buy so many, get so many free: Buy 10 and Get Free 1 to start with
- The same item, or another Free Item you choose
- Counted per bill line: 25 bought on one line at 10 + 1 gives 2 free
- The free line is added at 100 % discount, so it moves stock but adds nothing to the total
Slab discounts
- Slabs of From Quantity and Discount (%), such as 50 for 2 % and 100 for 4 %
- A line gets the best slab its quantity reaches
- When two slab schemes fit a line, the larger discount wins
- Quantities are compared in the item's own unit, so cartons are converted
Who and when
- Items, categories (with their sub-categories), brands and party groups; empty means every one
- From and To dates; no To date means no end; the bill date decides
- For one entity, or for every entity when Entity is empty
- Archive a scheme to stop it without deleting it
On bills and orders
- Apply Schemes button on draft bills and on quotations
- Applied again when a bill is posted and when a quotation is confirmed
- Applying again replaces what a scheme gave before, so changing a quantity is safe
- The scheme stays on the order line and goes to the invoice line
- Scheme lines are left out of the minimum rate and discount checks
- A Scheme column on the lines (hidden to start with) shows which scheme gave each line
