Commission agents' account sales (patti)
When you sell goods for a farmer, a mill or another principal as a commission agent, mark the bill lines with the principal. The account sale (patti) gathers those sales and takes off your commission, market fee, hamali and weighing. It makes the principal's bill for the net, so their ledger shows what you owe.
PLANSScale only
The problem it solves
- The patti is written by hand from the sale book, and a lot sold on credit is left off.
- Commission, market fee and hamali are worked out on a calculator, and each principal is charged differently.
- Advances given to a farmer before the season are not set off when the patti is paid.
- Nobody can say how much is owed to each principal today.
How it works
- Once, your administrator sets the Entity's mandi charges in Trade > Configuration > General > Settings, under Commission Agent (Arhat). They are Commission (%), Market Fee (%), Hamali per Unit and Weighing per Unit.
- Billing staff sell the goods as usual. On each bill line sold for someone else, they set For Principal (show the column on the bill lines).
- To settle with a principal, open Trade > Sales > Trade Documents > Account Sales (Patti) > New and pick the principal and the date.
- Press Gather Sales. Every posted bill line sold for that principal up to the patti's date, not yet on a patti, comes onto it under Goods Sold.
- Press Standard Deductions. Commission and market fee are taken as a percentage of the gross sale, and hamali and weighing per unit sold. Add freight or other deductions by hand.
- Press Done. The principal's bill is made and posted: the goods sold, less each deduction. The principal's ledger shows what you owe, and advances paid earlier are set off against it like any payment.
Everything it does
On the bill
- For Principal on each line of a customer bill: the farmer, mill or trader the goods belong to
- The column is hidden until you show it on the lines
- A line can be on one patti only
The patti
- Numbered PATTI/year/; principal, date and Entity
- Goods Sold: the bill lines gathered, with their bill
- Deductions: Commission, Market Fee, Hamali / Labour, Weighing, Freight, Other, each with a description and amount
- Gross Sale, Total Deducted and Net Payable
- States Draft and Done; every change is kept in its history; filter Draft and group by principal
Standard deductions
- Commission: 2 % of the gross sale to start with
- Market Fee: 1 % of the gross sale to start with
- Hamali per Unit and Weighing per Unit: 0 to start with, times the units sold
- Pressing it again replaces these four and keeps freight and other lines you added
The principal's bill
- A supplier bill to the principal, dated on the patti, with the patti number as its reference
- One line for the goods sold, one negative line per deduction, without tax
- Posted at once; pay it, or set an advance against it, from the principal's ledger
What it does not do
- Returns are not gathered: a credit note for a principal's goods must be taken off by hand as an Other deduction
- No GST on the commission line: if your commission is taxable, raise that tax yourself
- No printed patti layout of its own: the principal's bill is the printed document
- Rates are one set per Entity, not per principal or per item

Questions
Can one bill have goods of several farmers?

Pay the advance to the principal as a payment. When the patti is done, the principal's bill is set against it in their ledger like any payment. Can the rates differ by principal?
Not as a setting: one set per Entity. Change the deduction lines on a patti by hand before pressing Done. What if the patti is done too early?
Lines sold later stay open and go on the next patti. Gather Sales takes only lines dated up to the patti's date.Related features
