Sign-ups on your SmartMy Website become Marketing contacts

With SmartMy Website, every newsletter or pop-up sign-up becomes a SmartMy Marketing contact, tagged Website sign-up, with the email consent and its proof recorded. A ready segment holds them for your broadcasts and journeys.
PLANSFrom Growth

The problem it solves

  • Newsletter sign-ups sit in a website inbox and are copied to a mailing list once a month, if ever.
  • When someone asks how you got their email, you cannot show when and where they agreed.
  • New subscribers wait weeks for a first email, by which time they have forgotten you.

How it works

  1. A visitor signs up with their email in the newsletter section, the footer or a pop-up of your SmartMy Website.
  2. SmartMy finds the contact by email, or makes one in the site's Entity, and adds the tag Website sign-up.
  3. The email opt-in is recorded with its proof: the site, the form, the page and the date and time.
  4. The first sign-up makes the segment "Website sign-ups: <site name>" by itself.
  5. Send a broadcast to the segment, or start a journey on People in a Segment so every new subscriber gets a welcome.

Everything it does

What becomes a contact

  • Newsletter and pop-up sign-ups that give an email
  • Other website forms do not; they stay form entries in SmartMy Website (with CRM they can become sales leads)
  • The contact's name comes from the form when given, else the email

Consent

  • An email opt-in, source Form, with the proof: "Signed up on <site> with <form> (<page>) on <date and time>"
  • Recorded in the site's Entity, and shown under Audience > Contacts and Lists > Consent
  • Each Marketing email still carries an unsubscribe link

The segment

  • Made once per site, with one rule: Has a Tag, Website sign-up
  • It holds every contact with that tag, so with two sites both segments hold the sign-ups of both
  • Refreshed every hour, and before each broadcast that uses it

Questions

Can we prove someone agreed to our emails?

Yes. Each sign-up records an email opt-in with the site, the form, the page and the time. It is on the contact and under Audience > Contacts and Lists > Consent.

Do sign-ups get WhatsApp messages?

No. A website sign-up gives email consent only. WhatsApp needs its own opt-in.

Can we welcome every new subscriber?

Yes. Start a journey on People in a Segment with the site's sign-up segment. Each new member enters it.

We have two websites. Are their lists apart?

Not yet. Both use the tag Website sign-up, so each site's segment holds the sign-ups of both. Splitting them by site is not built today.
